As you can see, the gecko isn't a green-green color! Really, it's more like a grayish-green color. While the image is a bit fuzzy, okay, it's a blurry picture. Please cut me some slack! The gecko didn't pose or allow time for close-ups. Imagine that? Apparently, the gecko doesn't believe in photo ops.

Ryu’s family moved to Jamaica and was unable to take her. So, she found a forever home with me. I grew up around lizards running around the Sonoran desert but never had any that we kept in a cage. This was going to be a whole new adventure for her and me.

The Why If you were to ask me how we started this hobby of massaging the bellies of Western Fence lizards, (better known as the Blue Belly lizard) I wouldn't know what to say. Catching lizards has always been a favorite pastime for my husband and I. We live in the largest Ponderosa Pine forest in the world. Thousands of acres of Coniferous forest stretch the horizon, covering mountains and grassy hillsides. Within these forests life of all kinds teems; Steller's jays sing in the sky, squirrels dance around the base of trees, and lizards sunbathe on any suitable surface they can find.
Allison KellerPublished 3 years ago in PetlifeWhy You Should Buy and LOVE Reptiles
Reptiles seem to be the thing of nightmares for a lot of people. Especially after watching "Snakes on a Plane", although a lot of these movies, stories just are not true of representing our scaly friends. Reptiles including birds are the oldest land dwelling animals to ever live on Earth, but being beat by our fish friends sharks. So why should you get over your fear of reptiles and especially snakes? Quite a few reasons actually. Very seldom do they actually hurt people and that goes for crocodilians too! Reptiles will very rarely attack unless provoked which goes for any animal. They're fascinating to watch! On the surface they might be boring but it's neat to see how they interact with they're surroundings and their owners especially bearded dragons (beardies). The bearded dragon is the most commonly kept reptile in the pet trade. They're calm, affectionate, and fun to watch. They are super friendly and docile too. They're personalities are just amusing too. Although the downside is some if these reptiles can be quite expensive. Including their food and enclosures. Upfront expect to pay almost $900 on their pen, food, décor, care items, lights, and even the animal. Sales and specials will be your best friend if you're looking to buy from a pet store (although I wouldn't recommend it). Reason being is that pet stores don't really care about the safety of the animal and will often house them together (which you NEVER do)! I'd buy my supplies from a pet store and the animal from a breeder. If you do buy from a pet store, make sure you ask the following questions:
Mark LambingPublished 4 years ago in PetlifeChameleon Care
One of the most popular lizards in the pet trade is the Chameleon. With their curly prehensile tail, the independently moving eyes, the long tongue used to catch prey, the fact that it changes colors: What’s not to like? In fact, it is often a child’s first pet reptile. Veterinarians in general do not recommend reptiles as children’s pets. Because they are more delicate than dogs or cats for example, and often require more work and responsibility. The temperature has to be just right. The humidity has to be just right. The Calcium and Vitamin D ratio have to be just right. And though you can eyeball many of these factors with some reptiles…not with Chameleons.

Dragon Eggs
I work for a children’s science entertainment company. I do a lot of the administrative work and also teach in after-school programs all across the city. The kids call me Lab Rat Kat, and I feel like a celebrity when I walk into schools. I’m wearing a lab coat, I’m getting high fives, and people are cheering my name. Okay, only two of those three things are true… And that’s because I don’t put my lab coat on until class starts! I love my job. Pre-coronavirus, we had an office where we also hosted birthday parties, and in the office we had a pet. His name is Smaug, and he is a bearded dragon. He lives in a 40-gallon tank, eats mostly leaves, and I love him dearly. Some people have work wives; I had a work dragon.

Everyone loves to root for an underdog. Universally, they inspire hope and allow even the most cynical amongst us to believe that miracles do exist. Even if for only a brief moment in time, they serve to reestablish the unseen balance between good and evil. Between right and wrong; fair and unfair.
Reptile DysfunctionPublished 4 years ago in PetlifeViserion's Story
Hello! My name is Viserion, and I am a ~9 month old bearded dragon. My mother had always wanted a bearded dragon, but we were always too expensive for her parents to afford. At least once a year, she would come visit the pet store and gaze in fascination at my kind. She would beg and plead, but she understood why she always left empty-handed.
