The Hedge Witch
I met a real-life hedge witch when I was a little girl traveling with my mom from Missouri to Arizona. We stopped at a commune, called ARF somewhere up in New Mexico. She was named ARF because there were so many dogs on the commune. We arrived very late and it was so dark we could bearly see the narrow path with our flashlights. The darkness was so dark it felt suffocating. We made our way through the dense pine trees, finally finding the main house, which is basically a community house where all visitors and people who live on the commune can come temporarily sleep, hang out, eat, and possibly have electricity and running water.

What it Was Like to be a Supermarket Cashier During the Pandemic
It's a never-ending line of food coming down the conveyer belt. Bodies of people lined up, eagerly and impatiently awaiting it to be their turn. Headcount... time to call for my second cashier. I hear sighs of relief and a stray grumble "finally" as I direct the next customer to lane three to start unloading. Reassuring the crowd that someone is on their way. The line shuffles half its bodies over to lane 3, an angry mob has been averted.

Chocolate Covered Pretzels
My family is full of snackers. They will eat you out of the house just based on snack costs. To avoid breaking the bank, I have started to make all the snacks we eat, myself, versus buying costly store-bought snacks. Recently I have started making chocolate-covered pretzels and they have become a go-to snack. I am sure they will be an instant hit in your home also!

YOU Triggered my CPTSD
Faced with a boring weekend ahead of me, I started to watch YOU. It was immediately an audience grabber from the get go. I hit pause, pondering … why haven’t I watched this yet? There’s already 3 seasons… I hit play and as the true meaning of the narrator starts to hit, I am reminded, I don’t have to watch YOU. I already lived YOU.

Ryu the Pumpkin Pirate
Ryu’s family moved to Jamaica and was unable to take her. So, she found a forever home with me. I grew up around lizards running around the Sonoran desert but never had any that we kept in a cage. This was going to be a whole new adventure for her and me.

Growing Up Beyond Poor.
I am grateful for running hot water to do dishes in. No more heating water over the stove, pot after pot, adding what felt like forever to dish time. No hauling jugs of water from the spicket to the house, gallon after gallon. So much work for a kid on a hot Arizona day. Nope, now I just walk up, turn on the faucet, hot water appears.
