An old friend said goodbye today, and, the funny thing was, I never knew what buds we were. But Grace knew, and that's all that mattered.
Save a six year stint following the death of our first family dog, and a six month gap after losing our second one, I had never lived without a pet. I never identified as a cat or dog person—always just an animal person. That being said, if I HAD to choose, I would always pick dogs. I never owned a cat of my own, yet I would go out of my way to pet neighborhood strays, track down barn cats, and crawl under beds at my aunt’s to find her elusive cats. However, when the time came to move out of my parent’s house, I was forced the face the fact that I didn’t have the time nor space for a dog of my own, so I kept it in the back of my mind that I was going to get a cat once I was settled in.
If you have ever experienced your cat having a seizure, you know how serious and upsetting this situation can be. During this period of time, your cat may foam from the mouth, fall over, loose its ability to control its bowels, or have uncontrolled movement of its limbs. After the seizure has ended, your cat will typically be very confused for a few hours. They may pace, trying to figure out what just happened. They may also wish to be very close to you until they are feeling like themselves again. If you know that a seizure has occurred, you can check with your vet to see if any tests should be run. If your cat is prone to seizures, you may just be told to keep a close eye on your cat as long as the seizure has passed. Prescription medications can be used in order to prevent and treat seizures, but these medications target certain chemicals in the brain. Because of this, some pretty nasty side effects can take place. Natural alternatives are available for treating seizures in cats. CBD is one natural supplement that is very safe and effective for seizures in both humans and pets.

Cats can teach us how to master an attitude to survive. I was recently inspired to write this because of one little kitten that impressed me. We live on a farm and somehow this little grey kitten wandered into my yard. I have my other outdoor cats, and cats can be hostile to strangers. However, this little kitten was not the least phased and went over to everyone to be friends. Even if they didn't "like" the idea at all.
Humans have been cast into different personality types for ages and these are very specific for each individual. Cats, according to online research, are cast differently using breed, typical characteristics, and behavior—rather than personality. Cats, however, do have different personality types.
I’m officially the crazy cat lady. Although I do have other pets, my cats are my heart. I have adored cats all my life. Actually, when I was born and brought home from the hospital, I was set down on the couch next to a big tom cat named, Thomas, of course. Maybe that’s when it all started, who knows. All I know is that cats have taught me a lot about life. How you ask?
Right now I have a total of three pets, a four year old dog named S'mores, a three year old cat named Sundae, and lastly I have the sweetest one year old Little Manx cat named Snickers. Of course I love all of my animals, and they are all well taken care of, but I find myself most attached to Snickers, maybe it's the way he trots, or maybe his backstory is the reason i'm a crybaby for this cat.
The picture above is the first picture I ever took of Stormy. My grand kitty. That's right, I went there. Some people have grandchildren—I have grand cats.
Cats are strange, aloof, crazy creatures at the best of times. They are thought of as independent, untrainable animals unlike dogs, but sometimes that's just not the case. Some first time cat owners might be mistaken on their understanding of cats, because cat behavior isn't black and white, it's a spectrum. Particular breeds shouldn't be taken at face value—each cat has their own unique personality that isn't necessarily fitting to the characteristics of their pedigree.
CATS are obligate carnivores which means that they have to eat a diet that's predominantly meat.
