In the Turkish city of Antakya, which was struck by an earthquake, rescuers enter a collapsed house while wearing helmets and flashlights. To free two bulls trapped under debris named Asghar and Nouma.

Three weeks after a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake decimated the nation, Turkish authorities stopped looking for human survivors. Rescuers are still working around the clock to free any trapped pets, including dogs, cats, birds, goldfish, and other small animals.

"Numerous animals are starving or confused about what is happening, or they have suffered severe trauma. Prior to being able to bring their pets with them, many families had to evacuate "according to Sumanth Bindumadhav, senior manager at Wildlife and Disaster Response.

Yenocak, who was saved along with her family just days after the earthquake, was one of the fortunate ones. She is upset, though, because her bulls, who are usually loud, are hardly making any noise.

She cries, "To hear them so quiet, it makes me cry."

Yenocak fed her bulls out of a basement window for 11 days. She then requested assistance from the Turkish animal protection group Haytap's rescuers in order to save them.

Desperate barks and meows can still be heard coming from abandoned and collapsed buildings, according to a team of veterinarians and volunteers from India working for Humane Society International (HSI). In addition to helping locals who have pets lost, they collaborate with local authorities to rescue trapped animals.

"The animals that are still alive that we discover are frequently found alone in abandoned and damaged apartments that have been through this catastrophe. I can't even begin to imagine how terrifying it must have been for them to experience four earthquakes in the past few weeks, let alone the deafening drone of helicopters above them "Kelly Donithan, director of animal disaster response at HSI, says.

More than 44,000 people have died in Turkey as a result of the earthquake that struck on February 6, and thousands more have died in neighboring Syria.

Some Highlights Words On This Topic

Animal rescuers in Turkey are doing incredible work to save dogs, bulls, goldfish, and many other animals. These rescuers are often volunteers who are passionate about animal welfare and work tirelessly to rescue animals in need.

One of the most inspiring stories of animal rescue in Turkey is the work done by a group called the "Izmir Animal Rights Association." This group rescues dogs that have been abandoned, mistreated, or injured, and provides them with medical care, food, and shelter. They also work to find loving homes for these dogs and have successfully rescued and rehomed hundreds of dogs in their community.

Another group called "Haydos Animal Shelter" rescues bulls that are often used for bullfighting or abandoned by their owners. These bulls are taken to the shelter where they are cared for and given a chance to live out the rest of their lives in peace and safety.

Even goldfish are not forgotten by animal rescuers in Turkey. A group called "Istanbul Goldfish Rescue" works to save goldfish that have been discarded by their owners or are in need of medical attention. They provide these fish with a safe and healthy environment and work to find them permanent homes where they can thrive.

The Challenges And Successes They Face

Challenges:

One of the biggest challenges that animal rescuers in Turkey face is the lack of government support and funding for animal welfare. This can make it difficult for them to provide necessary medical care, shelter, and food for the animals they rescue.

Another challenge is the cultural attitudes toward animals in Turkey. While many people in the country love and care for their pets, there are also many who view animals as disposable objects or pests. This can lead to abandonment, mistreatment, and even cruelty toward animals.

Finally, natural disasters and environmental factors can also pose a challenge for animal rescuers in Turkey. Wildfires, floods, and earthquakes can displace animals and make it difficult for rescuers to reach them.

Successes:

Despite these challenges, animal rescuers in Turkey have achieved many successes in their efforts to improve the lives of animals. Some of these successes include:

Successful rescue and rehoming of hundreds of dogs, cats, and other animals

Providing medical care and rehabilitation to injured and sick animals

Raising awareness about animal welfare issues through education and outreach programs

Lobbying for changes in laws and regulations related to animal welfare

Collaborating with other organizations to increase the impact of their work.

Overall, animal rescuers in Turkey have made significant strides in improving the lives of animals in the country, and their efforts serve as an inspiration to others around the world.
