Siberian huskies differ from most dog breeds in some unique traits. Only a seasoned husky owner can identify and relate to these husky specials.

)Highly energetic - Huskies are high-energy dogs and require adequate exercise. The energy level of a husky, more so in the puppy days is unmatched to any other dog breed. They can be your best buddy during hiking or sprinting across a trail even when they become senior dogs as they are incredibly fit. They will always be there to provide much-needed support during those tough trails. They also love to play tug of war and fetch for as long as you may please.

)Escape artists - Huskies love to escape, even if there is a tiny hole in the crate you got for your puppy, it is enough for him to escape. No cage or crate can deter a husky from venturing outside. That being said, they are excellent diggers and tend to escape from under the fence in rural environment. Only a seasoned husky owner knows what happens when you accidentally release a husky from its leash. Getting him back can be quite a task even for the most athletic people.

)Cold-loving: Huskies are adapted to the cold climate and may require constant air-conditioning and power back-up in tropical countries. If you are unable to make such arrangements, please do not get a husky puppy in warm tropical countries as these tend to lead to premature deaths, sufferings and abandonment. For those blessed with a cold climate, you are lucky. A husky's love for snow is unmatched. Their fur typically sheds after winter season is gone, hence it will be messy during the shedding season.

)Never bites aggressively, always playful: While temperament varies across every animal, most huskies are playful and rarely aggressive. Once trained, they can be excellent around babies and as a family in a multi-person household because they are super-friendly.

)Smartness - While huskies are not the smartest dogs in the world, they tend to learn very quickly. While it is tough to train a husky, the things they pick up themselves without training can be amazing.

)Constant licking- Huskies love to lick, more so than other dogs. It can be called a way for them to show affection or sometimes they just like the saline taste of your body or want their pack leader(you) to be cleaner. Every husky owner knows how much their huskies love licking them everywhere when they get the time. While some like this trait, many feel odd when licked.

)Heavy-shedding- When the warm weather sets in, huskies shed their undercoat. Hence expect your whole house to be filled with dog hair everywhere be it on your clothes or furniture. While most get used to it, it may bother some, so be advised before getting a husky. The shedding can be tougher on wooly long-haired huskies than on normal ones. Grooming your husky regularly and feeding them omega fatty acids supplements regularly are essential. Even if you maintain good grooming practices, preventing husky fur all over the house is next to impossible.

)High prey drive- This essentially is not a good trait. I will advise all multi-dog owners to be aware skeptically for first few days as huskies have a natural wolf-like tendency to hunt small dogs or animals. While they don't seem aggressive, one should take caution while leaving an adult untrained husky with a small pet for a long time. While not as aggressive as other dog breeds, they can do some serious damage albeit playfully.

)Professional howlers: The howl of a husky is unique and can soothe even the cruelest hearts. Their howling is spectacular and at times, it may seem they are talking back to you. They also love mimicking and their high-pitched jabbering, groaning, and grumbling can travel far distances.

)Bug-lovers: If a bug like a big fly or bee enters your house, it will be playtime for your husky. They love chasing bugs and can keep following them for an indefinite time. Their love and lightning-fast response to taking bugs down are worth mentioning.
