“If you find something very difficult to achieve yourself, don’t imagine it impossible - for anything possible and proper for another person can be achieved as easily by you” - Marcus Aurelius, MEDITATIONS, 6.19

In this world, you’ll often find yourself reacting only with your emotions. And since you're probably a human being reading this, it is completely normal. Now, you'll agree with me, it is a particularly unjust world we're living in and sometimes the most awful person will be successful where you will be despicable.

Fortunately, everything your mind can imagine is possible. It can sound a bit cringe or whatever but it is a reality. There are literally thousands of success stories you can have a look at, stories that can inspire you, that can make you laugh and say "How in the world is that possible? What kind of freak one must be to achieve that ?". You could in fact argue that not everyone was born equal, and that's true, and it's unfair. But when it comes to success it's a bit different. I really think that everyone was born equal regarding success and everyone can create his or her own success story.

Remember, as Marcus Aurelius said, if someone achieved something once in his or her life, you could do exactly the same. Records are set to be broken, and the world perpetually changes.

Now the main thing I wanted to talk about in this article is how are you gonna respond to someone else's success. Sometimes it's really difficult to see someone being successful at everything he tries but there are two ways to respond to that :

Your first option is the "You win, I lose" mentality. Pretty self-explaining in fact, but that mentality leads to bickerings, a bad mood, and could definitely ruin your day, or your week, or even an entire month if you can’t get over it.

The other option you have is to take lessons from the successful people around you. Seeing the successes of others as inspirations, and try it on your own afterward. Is there a reason why that person is successful and you couldn’t? No. You could find a million excuses for it, but ultimately you are the only reason of your success and it’ll be only defined by you and your actions.

If you identify yourself more as the first option, no worries, work can be done so that you can liberate yourself from that negativity.

To me, the first and the only thing to do would be to be thinking about it, as you already are. Just analyze your thoughts when you find yourself in a situation like that, where someone’s hit by success and your not. As soon as you get why you feel irritated and jealous, turn those thoughts to inspiration. Ask questions, and act as the most positive as possible. At first, it can sometimes be hard to be sincere when having that kind of positive attitude though. But trust me, a positive attitude brings positive energy, good vibes only. In fact, until there nobody said Newton was wrong in his 3rd Law, action-reaction. Fortunately, this is not something that only applies to physics.

The most powerful tool you have in your possession (by far) is your brain, and it generally responds wacky due to emotions. But the good news is you can take full control of it so that it is your best ally in any given situation.

Think about it.

I really appreciate you read the article till the end.
