Welcome to Vocal Writing Contests

On December 17, I wrote about a challenge. It is due in two days.

Those who missed it and are interested in that challenge might check this post titled $1000 Prize: A New Writing Contest for Fiction Writers on Vocal.

Behind the Last Window is for writing a dystopian fiction story about the last window to the outside world. It will close on December 30, 2022.

In this post, I introduce a new challenge titled Full Moon.

About the New Challenge for Poetry Writers

This contest is for poets. The prompt is to write a poem inspired by a crazy dream.

I believe we all have crazy dreams, especially when we indulge in too much food or other fun things. But I never thought the full moon would affect my dreams until I read about this prompt on Vocal Media, which always surprises me with novel ideas.

There is no minimum word count requirement, but it must be under 2,000 words to qualify.

You need to submit your poem to the poet's community and adhere to the community guidelines. When you are submitting your piece, you can select the poet community.

This challenge is only for Vocal+ members. If you are not a member yet, you might join by using my referral link.

The grand prize is $1,000. The second place is $250. And ten runners-up will get $25. So a total of 12 poets will get a chance to win this contest. It sounds compelling to me.

I think it would be a great idea if you could write poetry to join this contest and increase your chance. In addition, your content might reach out to a new audience. I wish I could write poems. But I would like to try it one day. Many great poems on Illumination inspired me to write.

You must submit your poem by Jan 06, 2023, 3:59 PM AEDT. Vocal Media will announce the winners on Jan 27, 2023.

I wish you good luck. If you win, please let us know so we can celebrate on Vocal and Medium. I hope you join Vocal and reap the benefits.

My Thoughts About Writing Poetry

Recently I met a friend who writes poetry and even earns money by selling poetry books. I asked her about the benefits of writing poetry.

She said writing poetry might improve our writing skills, as it requires precision and the economy of language. She believes that writing poetry can also develop a greater understanding of the different elements of writing, such as structure, imagery, and rhythm.

I believe poetry allows poets to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences creatively. By writing poetry, we might explore and express our emotions in a way that may not be possible through other forms of writing, such as non-fiction which is my primary genre.

My friend thinks that writing poetry can be therapeutic. She worked through her difficult emotions in her poems. It gave her a sense of release from unpleasant emotions.

I believe poetry requires a lot of creativity. She uses metaphors and imagery to share her thoughts and feelings.

Importance of Writing Challenges

Like many writers, I enjoy writing challenges on Medium. Writing challenges inspire me as a writer and reader. I read the winners' stories on Vocal Media and enjoyed them very much. Therefore, as a writer, reader, and editor, I want to create awareness of Vocal Media contests.

I started writing on Vocal Media and enjoy the platform very much. As a writer, you can monetize your content. Vocal Media also pays generous bonuses to writers.

I recently wrote my 10th post and received a $10 bonus. In addition, a kind person sent me a $5 tip. I am grateful. which nicely surprised me.

Besides, Vocal Media also gave me a $10 bonus for joining the Vocal+ program, paying an annual fee. More importantly, they gave me a 10% discount for paying annually. It is a great incentive for beginners.

Repurposing your content between Medium and Vocal Media can be valuable. You can earn income from both platforms with minimal time investment. In addition, your stories can reach a broader audience.

Earlier today, I posted a YouTube short and also repurposed it on TikTok about my first impression of Vocal Media. It is only a few seconds. Busy people like YouTube shorts as they are quick and to the point. They look like tweets under 140 characters.

Here is a link to the short.

With that being said, thank you for reading my post, and have a good one.
