Have you ever wondered why you don’t always want the same thing? For example, not long ago you wanted this particular thing so much that you even made plans and arrangements to get it. But you’re now thinking of something else. This particular thing you once tried to get has suddenly become unimportant and undesirable.

Why did this happen?

Is it because you didn’t take the time to carefully make the right choice? Or because you have come to realize that it isn’t right for you?

Whatever be the reason. The human mind is huge and invariably active. And our inability to control it is why some people would at times find it challenging to stick to a particular task or routine.

Life is driven by desires. Desires are fueled by thoughts. And at the bottom of desires and thoughts lie various life experiences. Every experience influences our thoughts, ideas, desires, and choices in life.

Each time you have a new experience, you’d begin to see yourself having new thoughts. This would lead to new desires, and goals to pursue. When your thoughts change, your desires would likewise change. And when your desires change, your goals and aims would also change.

You can’t build your life all by yourself. But you can build a wonderful life by drawing ideas, insights, and inspiration from others.

If you have a lifestyle that is open to constant learning and improvement, you’d be exposed to lots of experiences. These experiences would surely come in handy someday.

And as you strive to improve your life, you’d seek to connect with folks that possess the right knowledge, insights, and experiences that you can apply and get positive outcomes. You’d learn a better way to leap over some hurdles and get things done.

Also, the desire to become a better individual will push you to try new things. It would power the persistent urge to travel to new places, to join groups and activities that would benefit you. It is also why you’d go looking for interesting books to read and podcasts to listen to.

But what happens when you choose to confine yourself to a small circle where you experience a little bit of everything life has to offer?

You’d find out that you’re unable to lift yourself to the level you’re supposed to reach in life because you didn’t strive to add the right values into your life.

If for any reason you fail to do what’s right for you at any point in time, you’d be unable to possess and experience the benefits from the actions that you’re supposed to have taken. And the lack of these benefits would make it difficult to pursue and accomplish some important goals in life.

Making the right choices and acting on them is overly important. It’d ensure that you’re adding the right values into your life by drawing values from others to help you create the kind of life that’s right for you. All the values they amassed over the years to improve their lives would become what would help you to improve yours.

Most importantly you’re going to be able to add value to the lives of others. You become a role model that others would look up to. You start giving out what you have gathered so that they can apply it to improve their lives and likewise add value to others.

Humans are an enigma. There are things about you that won’t come to light if you don’t constantly strive to improve your life. This is why living a life of constant improvement isn’t all about achieving whatever you desire to achieve. Rather it’s more about getting to understand yourself better.

Every step you take to improve your life will allow you to expand your awareness and have a better understanding of yourself. This would help in creating the kind of life you want by understanding your weaknesses and how to conquer them — your areas of strength and how to harness them.

Both the positive and negative experiences which you’d encounter will present many lessons that would help you grow and thrive.

The knowledge, insights that helped you to enrich your life are going to help those that look up to you to improve and enrich their lives.

Conclusion

We gain nothing until we pay something. We reap nothing unless we sow something first. The battle we all face in life is to conquer ourselves. And we can’t achieve it at a go, but only by striving to record tiny improvements each day.

This is why you’re never going to stop learning and improving. The more you learn and improve, the more you unlearn unhelpful and self-limiting habits that are capable of stopping you from accomplishing your goals — and imbibe positive habits that’d transform and propel you to many successes and happy moments.

Also, you’re going to be more prepared for the challenges of life, or an uncertain future when you have a life that rests on the various successes, and knowledge you amassed over the years.
