The Meaning of Freedom

The definition of freedom, according to Wikipedia, is understood as either having the ability to act or change without constraint, or to possess the power and resources to fulfill one's purposes. Freedom can be understood in many ways. Either from having the rights to make your own choices & decisions. Or to make oneself own purpose & be away from the constraints of society. It can also apply both physically and mentally. So what can we do to have such freedom in times where such options are impossible?

People can have freedom, but how can we use it? Well, we have rights and options to make. We have the freedom to say what we want, and do what we want. Although keep in mind we have to at least follow law and order. If there’s too much freedom, the world would be chaotic like a video game. We can make our own decisions to feel great or alive. We can make our choices to improve one’s living. We have the power to give our own thoughts and opinions on the same topics in discussions. You like a film that the majority of people don’t like, that’s alright! You wear clothes people would not wear, then go ahead! If there’s someone or something that tries to hold you down to have such freedom, then you must be strong and push yourself to keep it. Sometimes we as people would not appreciate something opposed to the norm. In fact, people might be afraid of the unknown and change, but with change comes better opportunities and better livelihood. So in case you want to have freedom, keep hold of your own opinions and be prepared to make better choices and actions for a better living with freedom.

Social ruling & body government are one, if not the main reason, that freedom can be granted to individuals. Different countries have different governments and political agendas that differ from the needs of the people. In the United States, there’s democracy where the people can choose their political leaders. Presidents, state governors, and even mayors of cities are chosen by the people who are granted such freedom to do so. There’s also the Constitution and the Bill of Rights that gave the US citizens the freedom and rights of America. If the government then chooses to take away such freedom and rights, then the people can protest against such corruption to prevent the unbalanced government system. As such, some countries aren’t granted such rights or freedom. This creates injustices and illegal actions to be committed to those citizens who deserve the same rights and choices. To counter these issues, we must bring it to the attention of the world government, in which many nations could help those in need. All in all, social constraints are a big pain in the neck, but with enough outcry and protest to bring its injustice, we have the freedom to bring the constraints down.

In conclusion, we can use freedom to make a better livelihood for one individual or a whole society. We can use social media to express ourselves and to talk about topics people would want to hear. We can share important messages and ideas to a majority of people. In America, democracy has allowed American citizens to have the freedom to vote and protest against injustices. To be able to share that with other nations would require necessary assistance and hearing. Some nations may not have their citizens the freedom to make their own choices and living, but we can help influence their freedom. Freedom that they deserve to keep away the fear of hostile takeover or a raging war. We have learned through history that fighting against each other won’t solve anything. In summary, we need to make a peaceful impact and a positive outlook to influence the people and nations to have freedom.
