Mindfulness has been a buzz word for sometime now and for good reason. It is essential to not just surviving modern life pre-pandemic, but how are we all really doing almost 2 years into this ever unfolding 'new normal'?

Aren't you sick of that term?

Have you properly rested and 'digested' the chaotic uprooteness we all have faced and continue to face?

Chances are probably not. How can you - with the list of demands on your plate? From keeping the lights on, food in your belly, pleasing your boss, caring for your family (or let's be real caring for yourself is a miracle because that is a feat in itself) amidst all the uncertanties being hurtled at us non-stop?!

The truth is you are not made to just survive nor tolerate this new normal.

No matter what is going on though - you can choose how you see things.

You can tap into an infinite source of inspiration, clarity and wisdom - if you choose to.

Do you believe in your power to choose how you see things and that you have an unlimited source to tap into? Do you allow yourself to rise up and live in joy? That is true service to this world.

How to set yourself up:

Start by carving out at least 20 minutes for yourself. You can do this if you want to and you deserve it.

It doesn't need to be elaborate. Whatever helps you to make it happen. You can have your fur babies and your real babies with you if needed ;)

I highly recommend lying down and setting yourself up in a cozy nest. Perhaps your favorite blankets, scents, oils, candles and whatever helps you create an atmosphere of peace and serenity.

Benefits of the Practice:

No one to please, nothing to do: Don't we all just want to remember that as adults, yes we can relax like it's the first day of summer vacation every day?! You can feel however you choose and handle your to-do list like a boss. Everyone around you will be like whaaaat? Why are they so chill?! And voila everyone is chill and everything is handled. What would that be like? Knowing it's all handled, you are on the other side. It was so easy, so chill!

Acknowledgment: Welcome everything as it is. Nothing to fix/change/judge or analyze. Give your brain, immune and nervous system a chance to relax and reboot.

A spa session anytime, anyplace - for free! Yes, feel the benefits of escaping to your favorite spot in nature or having a spa session just for you! That sense of deep relaxation and just allowing thoughts and things to just drip off you. Yes, this is possible!

Feel grounded + inspired: As humans, when things feel uncertain we need to feel safe and secure. Learn how to create these feelings no matter what is going on around you. We are designed to create - if you are not expressing yourself authentically and creating your own unique way; you may feel stagnant which can lead to physical issues like depression and auto-immune diseases because thought loops in your head become denser and negative if you aren't allowing them to be seen, felt, and released.

Power is in the present moment: This is the bread + butter of mindfulness meditation. Life is a moving meditation. Be here now. Not in the past, not in the future - Master welcoming it all and remebering your power to choose peace now no matter what is going on around you.

  1. Yawning + Sighing + Humming can be great ways to release and signal to the body you are safe.
  2. Body Scan - take 1 min to simply scan your body and notice without judgment what is present for you.
  3. Things don't have to be perfect - embrace the messy, the unknown. It is safe to make mistakes and color outside of the lines. Your best growth happens here.
