The Hustle Is Real

10 Lessons

By Pervin ShaikhPublished 6 months ago • 3 min read

I’ve been following Stephen Bartlett’s Forbes behind-the-scenes documentary. One statement particularly stood out.

‘The Bulldozer is coming for me, and it’s coming for you’

What did he mean by that? He means the face pace of change is going to speed up, especially as AI and other technologies get smarter. Should we be worried? No, but

I hate to say it, but he is right. He’s not sugarcoating anything, and he’s not scaremongering. Instead, he’s just saying it as he sees it.

Impact on Others

Ironically, focusing on your career can also positively impact the people around you. When you excel in your professional endeavours, you inspire those who admire your dedication and hard work. Whether it’s your family, friends, or colleagues, your success can motivate them to pursue their goals with the same fervour. Your journey becomes a testament to the rewards of prioritising personal growth and professional development.

Adaptation to Changing Environments

The professional landscape constantly evolves due to technological advancements, economic shifts, and societal changes. Prioritising your career equips you with the necessary skills and adaptability to navigate these fluctuations effectively. By focusing on self-improvement and staying updated with industry trends, you position yourself to seize new opportunities and tackle challenges head-on.

Long-Term Stability

Investing in your career offers long-term stability in a world where nothing is specific. Industries may rise and fall, but your accumulated skills, knowledge, and experience remain invaluable assets. This stability gives you the resilience to weather storms and helps you emerge stronger in adversity.

Aunty Betty

Aunty Betty has intermittently been on my mind today. She’s been my parents’ friend since their teenage years. Aunty Betty has a bee in her bonnet. The old formula is defunct. She taught her children this out-of-date formula and thinks it’s still valid. It’s not. She knows it, but doesn’t know what to do with it.

She’s watched her empire crumble around her. Blame is what comes out of her mouth these days, and everyone is to blame for her dethronement.

The New World

The world she knew is no longer there, and the new world is giving her plenty of curveballs. She doesn’t know how to handle them. Neither do her kids. They sat on the sidelines for too long. Whilst the ‘Queen Betty’ was enjoying the trappings of her inheritance, the world shifted gradually right in front of her. Now the seismic shifts are too much. The action was always on the pitch.

Trust me on this one, get busy learning or get left behind.

10 Things You Can Learn With A Side Hustle

Get Stuck In — Like Nike’s “Just Do It”, don’t overthink, just start doing. Action obliterates procrastination every time.

Be Yourself — There’s no perfect plan. Go with your gut and be ready to adapt on the fly.

Use Fear for Good — Instead of letting fear stop you, let it push you forward. Turn your anxiety into drive.

Try New Things — Experiment with different approaches. You might stumble upon something brilliant.

Be Creative — To spark creativity, dive into different experiences. To think outside the box, you need to see what’s outside it.

Keep Learning — The excitement of learning something new can keep you going. Keep that learning spirit alive for endless growth.

Learn from Mistakes — See each failure as a lesson. Today’s stumble could be tomorrow’s step up.

Don’t Give Up — Success is full of hurdles. Keep pushing through with grit because that’s what separates doers from dreamers.

Build Relationships — Networking is key, not just for work but for mutual growth and inspiration.

Work Together — Success isn’t just a solo effort. Collaborate and help others; it’ll help everyone grow faster.

It pays to be adaptable and resilient to thrive in today’s competitive and dynamic work environment. You don’t have to do what I did and become a Solopreneur.

However, If you want to stand head and shoulders above the rest, redefine your work approach by learning from hustlers and content creators because it may be your game-changer.
