I Just Got Drafted
I feel like I just got drafted. Saying that, I’m swept with a coalition of feelings; joy, anxiety, accomplishment, and motivation. But I don’t want to say it. As an athlete since pretty much birth, to say you’ve been drafted is a glorious statement above all others, an accomplishment that puts you in a league above all else. I’ve dreamed day and night of that type of achievement.

When Has One "Arrived?"
So, I was pondering this question, in the wee hours of the morning, around the 4 o’clock hour, as I was placing homemade ham broth into containers for freezing - when do you know if you have “arrived?” It only introduced more questions that needed answers. So I decided inquiring minds such as mine might also be delving into the corners of their minds, swirling these odd thoughts, interested in the answer and decided that I would propose this question to the Universe (or whomever happens to stumble upon VOCAL and decides to take a gander at my writing.)

Hospitality Motivation
What keeps me motivated after a 10 hour shift at work talking to guests all day, and making sure all 884 rooms are properly cleaned for our resort guests? Motivation comes from having a passion for what you love, a passion for what you do, I knew I had a passion for hospitality when I started college and did my first internship on a riverboat. That motivation continued onto my next 3 hotel internships before going into my manager in training program in this beautiful 884 Palm Desert Resort. When I first started I was terrified, I was in the hardest department, housekeeping with a new team and living on my own. I had high endurance due to my internships which were 10-16 hours shifts but never at this big of a property.

The Art of Life
I just sit there. Thinking, planning, imagining doing things. Things like dancing, exercising, painting. Big things too, like travelling, acting, being famous. I feel inspired, to do things, be someone, to share my story, to be me. And as I sit here, I plan. I plan things that I will do, things that I will learn, things that I should improve and how to improve them, and for once, I am one, I am one with my passion.

Legendary Poetry
The Journey: A story about life Sometimes the journey starts with anguish. Sometimes with trepidation. Both were true as for me this time as I stood before the perilous trail before me. A sense of fear enveloped me as I considered the monumental task before me. Looking at the spectacular mountain ahead of me, I took in a deep breath and wondered if I had the courage to proceed. I had completed missions similar to this I reasoned. I will conquer this one, as well. Yet I had never faced a challenge so great as the one before me now.

To be Young and Successful
Success can be defined in many ways. It could mean that you are an individual with a steady income who has purchased your very own house when you were in your 20s or 30s, but being successful is more than that. Success should include security which assures you that you will survive if ever you lose your job. A steady income will not cover that. It will only cover your daily expenses which means future plans will be too far ahead such as travelling.

My Creative Life (Post Grad)
Howdy, I'm a member of the 2015-18 class, coming straight out of Falmouth (UK) with a BA(hons - whatever that means) in film. If you must know, I got a 2:1 and yes, it was one mark off of a first. I'm going to give a very honest re-cap of the last two years of my career in the creative industry. With the hope to calm any nerves you might have about leaving University or where you "should be" now.

5 Daily Habits Successful People Swear By
“If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished your first task of the day.” This quote is a snippet taken from a speech made by former US Navy Seal, William H. McRaven. The soldier’s book is, similarly, titled Make Your Bed and alongside becoming a #1 bestseller, it is also perceived as one of the world’s greatest self-help guides.

I wrote a book when I was 9
A decade ago, my mother read J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy to me and my three siblings. Those books impacted me in a way that few other things in my whole life have done. Even as a kid I was able to recognize Tolkien’s work for what it was — a masterpiece. He created a whole world as real as this one. He wrote characters who stepped off the page and lived lives of their own. He painted pictures in my mind so that I was right there in the book.
