Darkness isn't always bad

You wake up every day to push yourself through the same routine, steps, job.. the same everything. Mental conversations occur on a regular with yourself to convince the person inside you to wake up and move on with each passing step and moment. Yet, that person inside you seems to be shrinking on a daily. The roaring voice you once had, is now the small trembling sound of a child hidden somewhere in your being. Eventually, it will become the sound of a squeaking mouse, and maybe even be snuffed out. But is that something you are ready for?

Tragic events and unwanted circumstances happen to everyone at some point in their lives. We are the author of our own stories, yet we lack the motivation and drive to make something great out of it. The small voice inside yearns for someone to recognize it so it can be nurtured and grow positively. Often, we are such busy humans, we overlook this reality of the situation and accept it for it is.

In times of darkness, we feel the most alone. Left out, shut out, hidden from the world with no one to care for us in the least. However, this is when we have the attention of the whole world at the edge of our breath. We just don't realize it. Tragedy strikes without warning. Heartache can cripple our world in an instant. Failure can be debilitating ruthlessly. Somehow, in the midst of this all, we are supposed to be functioning members of society with zero issues that push forward to be productive, better, loving, and so much more.

The darkness that envelopes us has an eerie hold of familiarity combined with the weight of comfort and acceptance. These are the times when the silence is the loudest. When all our thoughts seem to vanish in an instant to an instinct that grabs hold of the navigation system and guides us to self-healing. Healing we knew not we needed until now.

Darkness is filled with unknowns. Shadows that lurk in the corners waiting to jump out to scare us at any second and many other creepy ideations that are developed from fear, anxiety, and depression. However, darkness is also your friend in times of silence in your mind. It can bring an odd feeling of peace when tragedy has taken hold. It brings a calm wave of understanding at times when you feel all else is lost.

Be that as it may, the silence we find ourselves in despite the situation that put us there is the core of the strength we need. We are designed as humans to rebuild when we are sleeping. In the times when sleep cannot be had, our minds and bodies still rebuild to a point with the silence we find. Strength is found in those who speak less and listen more. Strength resounds from those who push themselves to develop and grow physically and mentally.

Strength in silence shows maturity and openness to change, growth, understanding, and enlightenment. One cannot be strong if they are weak in any or all other areas of their life. One can only be strong in a simplistic aspect if they shut out the chance to grow in their own silence thus remaining vulnerable.

The times we have had people talk negatively about us, thinking we knew nothing about their twisted loyalty to us, are building blocks as well to the strength in our silence. Holding your tongue in times like those I just mentioned, not only shows personal maturity, it also is the strength in your silence. The offending person is oblivious to the concept or notion you are any wiser. However, you are building your own walls and strengths they are no longer a part of.

Next time you find yourself in silence, though it may be uncomfortable for a bit, enjoy it. Here you will know without a doubt you are growing and developing your strength in silence.
