Your energy is yours

Time. A reoccurring issue in our daily tasks. If we had more time, we could sleep in a bit more. We could complete all of our goals and plans sooner. We could enjoy more of the small moments. If we had more time, we could get more out our day, our lives. More time, more opportunities.

What if time isn't what we need more of? What if 24 hours is just enough to do what we need? What if it isn't time we need to focus on, but energy instead. The energy to do and become. If we had more energy, we could be awake a bit more. We could complete all of our goals and plans in the right time. We could enjoy more of the small moments. If we had more energy, we could get more out of our day, our lives. More energy, more opportunities.

Isaac Newton is one of the most influential scientists of all time. He has 3 laws of motion that are so interesting and real. "In the first law, an object will not change its motion unless a force acts on it. In the second law, the force on an object is equal to its mass times its acceleration. In the third law, when two objects interact, they apply forces to each other of equal magnitude and opposite direction." These laws help us understand how things move and stay still. The more I think about how much effort it took Newton and other physicians, astronomers, and scientists to discover and recognize such laws and elements of life, it blows my mind.

Now, what has this got to do with energy to do and become? Well I'm no mathematician or physicist, but I believe that our motion influences our energy. I mean we're always in motion, or moving in life, until we're pushed or pulled by something good or bad. Despite the push and pull going against the direction of the particular motion, it creates a balance. It creates an orbit. That orbit, or balance, is what we need to discover for ourselves, and protect at all costs.

There are multiple ways to evaluate how our energy is invested. The best way to start is to simply list what gives us good energy when we are doing that, and how do we store or preserve energy when we are resting. You can start this by writing down everything you usually do in a day. This could include chores, working, shopping, sleeping, eating, watching movies, calling a friend, exercising, having a nap, driving and so forth. When you list every possible thing, go through your list and ask, "Does this give me productive and good energy when I'm doing it? or does it help me store energy? Does it do any good for me at all? Does this help me have a good day?" As you go over your list you may find a few things need to be cut from your routine. Some things you will want to do more of, some less. You might also learn that something that worked for you before doesn't work anymore. It's hard to get of rid old habits and develop new ones but this is the sacrifice that needs to be made to avoid making contact with something that stoops your personal progress and health.

More energy doesn't just give us more opportunities to do things. It opens up more opportunities to be better. Every day consists of 24 hours. That's unchangeable and out of our control. But our energy to make the most of that time is changeable and in our control. If you feel your energy can improve, take a chance and invest it in habits and goals more rewarding. That includes resting more. There will always be push and pull in life, but that just balances the motion of life. Stay in your orbit and keep moving in your happiest and healthiest way. Way of life.
