Some Good Things in 2020

Why 2020 is Not So Bad

The year 2020 is not what we anticipated. COVID-19 is still affecting us around the world, the authorities of police officers being questioned, riots, and we are mostly politically divided. Yet we must look at other aspects of what this year has present. Like the old saying, you must take in the bad to have the good. So this is what we positively gain from 2020.

When we have to stay indoors to decrease the chances of spreading the virus, we have to do something. Hobbies have greatly influenced us to do many things. Whether it’s reading some books you wanted to read, or learn how to play an instrument. Many people have done so many things they didn’t have the chance or the time to do. Because of this, many have begun to gain new hobbies.

Hobbies are one thing, but to be entertained is another. That’s why films and TV shows are continuing to be produced for audiences to enjoy. Instead of going to the movies, we get streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, HBO Max, Disney +, etc. Other channels are also putting movies and TV shows in their time slots to make sure many people move to their channels, so many could catch up on any movies they wanted to see or catch up with. Along with that, YouTube has many content creators putting out many videos to entertain those who want to be distracted from the crisis. Elsewhere TikTok has given us great videos to watch and shared with friends and family. And if you enjoy gaming, then the games of 2020 have been mostly great. From Among Us and Phasmophobia, to Call of Duty: Cold War and Assassin‘s Creed Valhalla. With that, there’s so much many can view for their entertainment.

In addition with films and TV shows, sports fans can still enjoy their sports. Recently the Dodgers have won the World Series in MLB, and the Lakers have won the NBA Finals. Meanwhile, WWE and UFC have continued to have great matches to entertain their fans, with precautions measures for the safety of their workers and staff. To create an atmosphere with audiences, many organizations have implemented virtual audiences tuning in to see the action. Overall, sports continue to show the athletic players while also following safety precautions.

While some have sports, tv shows, and movies, others just want to listen to music to be comfortable with what’s been going on this year. We have music from many genres that has been enjoyable or great to listen to. Some songs like WAP from Cardi B are made just for with no deep meaning. Other songs like Buried by the Lights from The Weekend give a strong message beyond a good song. It also allows others to listen to different songs and music genres they didn’t know existed. Jacob Collier’s album Djesse Vol. 3 has been one of the best albums to appear this year, which is amazing since he’s been nominated and won for sound and mixing, but never been nominated for album of the year. Because of many people being quarantined, there’s a chance for them to discover new music genres and musicians.

At last, there are other subjects to address before the year ends. Thanks to the men and women who are in essential occupations, we continue to have a steady income. We might have a new future to look up to as Joe Biden is our 46th President of the United States. The vaccine for COVID-19 is being created and is 90% efficient. We have New Year’s plans and goals to set up to be prepared for the upcoming year of 2021. We may not know if 2021 can be better, but we do know it can't get worse from here.
