Including questions & Answers By a Minority

There are different stories about black culture, My culture. I already know this and know you know this. People well known to the world have told their story, their struggle of being a colored person in society. While some also mention the favoritism that was played dividing black people from each others causing unforgettable fights that still exist to this day.

This is just my perspective, my thoughts of being a young black woman in my generation. It isn't easy nor was it ever easy being black. Yes, We aren't "owned" By anyone, we're told that we can walk freely and do as we please. Yes, I know our education is free to us, and we don't have to hide it. We can have jobs but not have to stay the same in the positions for the rest of our life because if we do, we have the option to just find a better one, right?

Yet, Are we thinking about this? Like seriously clearly thinking about it?

Or we just going by how pretty the front cover is because inside of it, we know it's something that some probably can't handle or want to accept.

Here's how I see it, Times now is way simpler and easier compared to how it was before. Although Slavery still exists for me and I'm going to tell you why I think so. Black people are still getting verbally and physically abused by people that have a higher authority over them. Just for the fact that they know they can do it because they have control and their color, my color was already defined before we even had a decent change or a normal life for ourselves to feel un-trapped. In this Century, In this generation, racism is still alive. Black people are still seen as people to try to tame and keep at a certain level when they are successful or living a good life. For example, Colin Kaepernick, who was an American football quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League but got let go because of him being a political activist, kneeling during the national anthem in protest of alleged police brutality and racial inequality in the Society.

Many people felt as though he was disrespecting the soldiers that died for the united states, People have gone as far as to burning his jerseys and making death threats towards him for doing that saying he could have protested differently. Yet, I feel like he did the right thing to get his point across that it is people out there that aren't getting justice and peace.

Another Example, Peter Liang, who was a police officer, was charged with second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and breaking the rules as an officer. He killed a man named Akai Gurley who was a black man that was just unarmed walking with his girlfriend. The officer and department still tried considering it as an "Accidental Shooting." To include, black People, that are apart of the LGBTQ community, suffer from racism and gay slurs.

Most Transgender have been feeling as though they do not belong or deserve to be loved because of them wanting to be who they truly are and it's sad that some people aren't accepting or understanding about it. It's even crueler there are people out there killing them because they do not like them and to me if you don't like someone you should just leave them alone not ruin their life or take it from them. These things, that happen to people, in general, can be discouraging overall and heartbreaking.

I have dealt with it by someone asking me to speak a black accent, when I am black and how I speak is just how I speak to people, I have heard the names like Monkey, gorilla and The famous N word all over the color of my skin. Not every black person is how you imagine them to be, Not every black person you meet are supposed to be a drug dealer, ghetto and speak Ebonics.

THAT SHOULD BE A DEFINITE SIGN HOW BLACK PEOPLE ARE ALREADY LABEL BECAUSE OF THE PAST AND WHAT PEOPLE SEE ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

Plus, I've decided to ask some questions to another person about their feelings and view of being a minority or black person living in this generation.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Q.] What are your feelings about where you are compared in your life to others?

[A.] My feelings are fundamental. We're are designed to understand ourselves. This capacity for self-reflection is one of the defining characteristics of our species. It's what makes us look up at the stars and ponder our purpose, keeps me from behaving like a freshman on a spring break at the office Christmas party and pushes me to cooperate and compete with the other highly evolved apes we interact with every day. In other words, it's like I have a fundamental need to evaluate myself, and the only way to do that is about something else and since we live in a world populated by other life forms that look and behave a lot like us, that something else becomes someone else - other people. Which is why you'll compare yourself to a model on the cover of Vogue or the ripped guy in your boot camp class, rather than your internal standard of beauty or a textbook on human physiology. I'm still human but sometimes social media does get to some people heads you know? And forget that it doesn't define you.

[Q.] What advice can you give to people that feel like, with their color, they don't have many options or feel like their past defines them?

[A.] The advice I can give them is they are going about things in the wrong way. People of color make the world go around, and we create history and memories every day. I know already we have one strike against us and that's our skin color but we should have and keep the motivation to keep pushing. The white man has been doing everything in there power to keep us black people below the surface, why? Because we are great. Greater than the eyes can see. We are blessed, we are a canvas of color, not plain white. However, life ain't easy but what fun if it is? Besides, the past is just something you should grasp from not hold on to grudges. Sooner or later, you're just shortening your life doing that.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We as black people have paved the way for Other people now these days that are around my age and younger. We created trends for people that shouldn't even be seen as a trend but known as an apart of history and acknowledge for it all the way not just for one month. There needs to be justice for us and complete equality for people my age and younger to see, to know that it is possible for them and that they can be vigorous because they have seen the struggle but know they can overcome it. By the way, don't get the wrong idea please. I know that black people aren't the only ones being mistreated and overcame things. Every race, Every person had encounter problems in their life but in my eyes minorities such as black and Hispanics have been hit the hardest throughout the years. Even Asians especially now, are getting racist slurs when they don't even deserve it. They are getting physically abuse along with their children over this Pandemic and that is wrong and those people in my eyes are heartless. You can't expect someone to be positive if you are just going to be negative towards them, respect the cultures.
