Rejection is Exhausting...Have you ever realised that ?

If you have been rejected or been denied recently you know what l’m talking about. It knocks the air out of your sails and you are stuck on the sideline, sometimes you don’t even get to start the race !

Watch your energy levels when you get a rejection… They plunge lower than low ! Rejection slows you down. It stings badly.  You would think that it gets better with age but it doesn't. You would think having been rejected, been denied , told you are not good enough umpteen times, the rejection would slide like water off a ducks back. But it doesn't, it slows you down and messes with your ability to fly. Rejection slows down your trajectory when you're young, when you are in the middle part of life and it may very well slow you down in old age !

Rejection steals attention from your goals or purpose. Your focus shifts from working on the next step towards achieving your goal or purpose to nursing the sting of rejection. The shift may be momentary for some and protracted for others depending on your tolerance level. Rejection brings the train of your progress to a screeching halt by just two letters, N.O. ! In whichever form it is expressed “we regret, we will not be progressing, nope, no way, not right now, next time and so on” ,” No” wants to give the impression that you’ve run out of track and your two choices are to stay stuck or go backwards …Forward is no longer an option for you.

You are most probably thinking that’s why one should always have options , right ? In case plan A doesn’t work then go to plan B and if that doesn’t work go to next and so until something finally does work. Sound theoretic advice but on a practical level doesn’t always apply. If your goal is to get a job, any job and every application you make comes back a rejection what is a possible alternate plan? If person A turns me down then l will ask person B and keep going till l get to person Z or beyond if l have to ! Planning for the worst can be scam!

You may find yourself  emotionally, spiritually, and maybe even physically distracted because of this rejection. You don't build mental scenarios on the trajectory of your life with bricks of anticipated rejections and denials. The thought of not getting dream job 1,2,3...or 50 is not the stuff that makes you get up every morning and send out more applications. If you knew that your dream ‘whatever’ is nothing but a pipe dream what are the chances that you would keep trying ? Our goals and aspirations are not built on being rejected or denied but being accepted, making the grade, being approved. That's what urges us on to bigger and better things.

"Yes",  is so much more productive.

"Yes" is progressive.

"Yes" is energising.

"Yes" is powerful.

"Yes" is empowering

Yes ,Yes Yes...feels good !  The positive energy of "Yes" is very different from the negative energy of "no"!

Next time you feel yourself being weighed down by the heaviness of rejection consider giving yourself a 'Yes" -boost to lighten your spirit.  Seek out and tap into the easy yesses, those things and people that empower, motivate, build up and energise you with easy wins no matter how inconsequential or irrelevant the origin of the yes. For example, play a game that you are super good at, ask a friend for a fun date or whatever it is you do so you can get back your mojo and shift your focus back to your goal.
