Well Dream, it's the 31st of December, 2021 and you've done it! Everything that you said you would accomplish this year was accomplished by you. Your theme for this year of your life was to demonstrate perfect self-expression in all areas of your life. You were bored with only being half of the self you knew you really were inside and you were tired of only giving the world the lesser half of yourself. You were in complete awe of the young woman living as you so vibrantly in your imagination. She was completely dynamic and you loved how she approached the world, how she looked at life, and how there was no separation between who she was being and who she wanted to be. You wanted to be more like the imaginary you living in your mind and you made a decision to fully embody her.

So here's how you did it...

You had a very simple yet beautifully effective plan. You had learned in 2020 that whatever one puts time to every day is directly responsible for the fruit one bears in the not so distant future. Putting time toward lovely things every day leads to a lovely life. It's a very simple and obvious truth, but one that you wanted to take more advantage of this year.

So you constructed very small daily tasks for yourself, no more than eight, that aimed toward all of your goals, both big and small. They were baby steps and, of course, one day of work toward something is not much but after weeks and weeks of completing these daily tasks, you were able to make huge strides toward your objectives in an incredible way. After every week of completing all your tasks, you rewarded yourself with something that you've been wanting that week. Whether it was a baked good, or maybe a book that you have been wanting, you consistently rewarded yourself. This undoubtedly kept you motivated throughout the entirety of the year.

You actively made sure that you were not assigning yourself more than 8 tasks a day because you knew it would feel a bit too overwhelming for you if there were any more. You learned in 2020 that you were often in the terrible habit of just not doing anything if there were a lot of things to be done.

You had 4 beautiful main objectives this year:

  1. To improve your Japanese level
  2. To increase your income + improve finances
  3. To improve your love life
  4. To improve your physical appearance

Each day you constructed a task that directly or indirectly lead to achieving your 4 main goals.

Japanese Study

Improving Your Japanese Skill

At the beginning of the year, you had been studying Japanese for 3 1/2 years. It was difficult in 2020 for you to improve this skill because it was the first time you didn't have Japanese speakers around to practice with and learn from. But you had the strong desire to really step it up this year and drastically improve. To reach your ideal level of Japanese fluency, you constructed the task of watching Japanese dramas with Japanese subtitles every day for at least 30 minutes for better listening comprehension and overall understanding of the language.

On its own, 30 minutes is not so much but that amounts to around 3 hours and 30 minutes a week of strictly Japanese reading and listening input, 14 hours a month, or approximately 168 hours in a year. This was way more input than you had been previously getting. You also made it a point to take 15 minutes a day to learn a new Japanese grammar point and 15 minutes to learn 3 new Japanese vocabulary words. Again, over time this made a huge impact on your skill.

Increasing Your Income + Improving Your Finances

To increase your income you decided that you were going to profit from the work you enjoy doing. You were so determined that you would be able to profit from your creative works. But first, you had to actually do what you loved. You wanted to complete a book this year that discussed the beautiful epiphanies you have had over the years. To do this, you constructed a task where you wrote 2 full pages a day on your book as well as the task of spending 30 minutes a day editing and formatting your book. In no time you were able to finish your book and publish it this year!

Another thing you wanted to accomplish in 2021 was to create a personal youtube channel where you discussed your life realizations. You had the idea for a while but finally started taking action on the idea this year. You were able to construct daily tasks every week that helped you create concepts for videos, edit the videos, and develop a manageable schedule that would help keep you on track. You really enjoy making these videos and have benefitted greatly from this.

You also made it a point to learn about money, investing, and how to improve your finances. To accomplish this you created tasks that allowed you to learn all about money. This included watching informative videos every week, or assigning a chapter of a book on financial literacy to read a few times a week and applying the principles. Over time you had gained so much practical knowledge and this all proved extremely fruitful for you this year.

Lastly, being more consistent with writing Vocal articles and entering Vocal's challenges was another goal for you. You enjoy writing and Vocal is a great way to make money from something that you love to do. Last year, you wrote a few articles on Vocal, received some tips, and even won a challenge but you were infrequent and sort of scattered in submitting articles. You wanted to write and submit stories more frequently on Vocal and so to achieve this, you would construct a daily task of brainstorming ideas for an article or 30 minutes of working on an article to be submitted to Vocal. This helped you develop a schedule of a sort and definitely become more consistent.

Improving Your Love Life

Your love life was something that you wanted to improve this year as well and you were able to do that. It might have seemed strange at first to think of having a love goal but you were so eager to be better so that you could show up as the best version of yourself in any relationship you would enter. You constructed tasks of reading books or listening to podcasts that dealt with giving patience, practicing forgiveness and kindness, understanding, and how to deal with conflict within a relationship. You made it a practice to apply these principles to all your relationships and even to yourself. You wanted to better your understanding of the human condition so that you may be better equipped to give your ideal, whole self to the ones you love.

As a result of this practice you were able to form deeper, meaningful connections with people you care for, others that you met this year, and yourself. You felt closer to them and them to you.

Improving Your Physical Apperance

You had the perfect vision of your appearance in your mind and wanted to bring it to life this year. You made it a point to pay attention to your appearance and how that directly affects your self-expression. You wanted to look the best you could look because you learned that looking your best helps you feel your best as well. You constructed tasks that would help you better care for yourself and commit to going the extra mile for yourself. At least 2 tasks out of a week were dedicated to improving your appearance through tasks like painting your nails, doing 10 minutes of facial yoga, or giving yourself a hair treatment.

Your dedication to caring for yourself physically resulted in you being a little more fearless, more outgoing, and more of yourself.

Other Tasks That Contributed To The Achievement of Your Goals

Something that you overlooked in previous years was the impact of your environment on your mental state and overall mood. You learned in 2020 that if you put off mundane things like cleaning your room, making your bed, or folding and putting away your clothes, you would most likely put off other things. Also, keeping your environment clean and organized is conducive to your own productivity. A clean, organized environment makes it easier to be productive and get things done. You decided to construct tasks that were simply good housekeeping. A few tasks out of the week included general housekeeping that was sometimes very easy to forget if it weren't scheduled.

The organization of your environment helped you feel like you had things under control; it gave you a perfect sense of clarity. You woke up knowing exactly what to do and how to do it without being distracted by the clutter and disarray of objects scattered everywhere. You also knew exactly where all the tools and materials you needed to complete your tasks that day were. It allowed you to immediately get to work instead of having to search for things that would, in the past, be a task of its own.

Final Thoughts

So there you have it! Through completing simple daily tasks you were able to achieve all of the goals you set out to achieve this year and you were also able to fully commit to this year's theme of perfect self-expression. There is no more separation between who you want to be and who you are now. You should be proud, you should rejoice. You're more in love with life than you've ever been...

because you're no longer only giving half of yourself.
