The Past, The Present and The Future

Everyone experiences pain. It's an inevitable stimulus that shapes us into who we are. Pain could be something visible such as having a migraine, a toothache, jamming your finger or even having a heartache from a heartbreak, but pain could also be invisible. It could be something that you live with every day or something that you don't know how to live without.

Pain is such a broad subject that comes with unique expressions experienced differently by every individual. No matter the differences, pain lies in the depth of the soul. For instance, unforgiveness toward others and/or with yourself, or having an emotional rage, that’s hard to contain. The soul is the root of your well-being, where your choices can internally manifest into the good or bad. Unspoken pains and baggage’s can become so detrimental that it blocks the mind from seeing a new light. We mask the open wounds by saying “I’m doing fine” but when triggered by words, we bleed inside. Sometimes pain is the only thing that makes us feel human that without it, we don't know how to function because feelings of joy and happiness aren't something that is normally experienced. Everyone deserves happiness but it starts by letting go of the past, enjoying the present and looking toward the future.

Past – things that have happened but no longer exists. Whatever you’re going through, know that you no longer live in the past and your past doesn’t control you. Yes, there are pains that are hard to let go and hard to forget, but letting go is the power you have over the pain and suffering, over the words that were spoken over you and over the guilt and shame that is manifesting in your soul. Forgive those who have done you wrong and let go of all the anger and resentment that is weighing down your soul. So, let go and learn to forgive yourself too…

Present – you are in the now, a particular place to be better than the past. You don’t bring your past to your present but you just mainly learn from it. The present is the time to rebuild yourself to continually grow a stronger mind, stronger body and to be fulfilled spiritually. Know that you are not the victim of your past but a conqueror that will continue to overcome the adversities of life. Don’t inhibit yourself from the joy and happiness of the present by crowding your mind with hurt feelings and negativity from the past. Surround yourself with people that will help you have a healthier mind. Go to the gym and release stress, go for a long drive, discover your skills and hone what you have and do something that will push you out of your comfort zone. Welcome good vibes and enjoy every moment of what you have now. You can’t change what has been done but you can pave the way to change your future.

You've got to believe in the possibilities. You've got to believe that tomorrow can be better than today. And here's the big one. Believe in yourself. - Jim Rohn

Future – things that are yet to happen. Plan what you want to accomplish and how you’re going to accomplish your plan. Be confident to face the day, be open to the challenges and be specific with what you want. Start with mini-goals that will help maintain a positive mind. For example, set up three daily goals; I will meditate in the morning, read encouraging or up-lifting books and I will exercise. From there on, set up your weekly goals or monthly goals, whatever applies to you. Things are sometimes hard to initiate or accomplish, but remember that it can only be done when you take the first step.
