Black Girl with the little black book
Here's the story of a Black Girl with a little black book. One late winter day, Jade was sitting on a family member's couch, thinking of how life could be better for her. Jade was already homeless and living with a family member was a very uncomfortable situation for her. She loved her family and they were very much help but Jade needed her own space. Jade was a very strong, independent young woman, she just couldn't find her way. Times were passing and Jade just needed a lil extra boost, she kept wondering where is my blockage coming from, why I can't think of the creative things I once thought before. So One evening Jade asked one her family members to take her to the store, Jade didn't know what she going to the store for, she just needed to get out of the house. Indeed Jade went to the store. Inside the Store Jade was just roaming to see if she could think of new ideas. Jade thought to herself, " I can start with pen and paper", So she found a isle full of sources, different notebooks, different pens, different reading books. Jade was walking and searching, she was so amazed by the different things she seen, that's when she said herself "I have to find the perfect notebook, so many colors and sizes." Jade didn't have much money so she couldn't just buy herself nice things or the things she really wanted. So she stumbled across this little black book, small enough for her and it didn't cost as much as the other books. She also bought herself one pen. Jade was excited, she had just made her first steps into creating new ideas. Jade and her family member went back to the shared home. Jade rushed out the car to go write in her new book. There was a lot of people in the home so, Jade had to wait while everyone was sleep to start brainstorming. As soon as everyone was sleep Jade took her little black book and pen, and went outside. Just as Jade picked up the pen to begin writing, her and hand fingers just went to work. She started writing down everything, from her now house to her new car to her new life, everything just came to her senses. It's like her hands just wrote the book for her. She couldn't believe her eyes, she had filled up the whole notebook within that one night. From that point on everything Jade wrote in the book begin to happen. She was blessed with a new home, a new car, and even started her own family, she followed her career pursuits, she was very successful and was able to take care of her whole family. Jade was so thankful for the little black book, she went and started a business for little girls and young women to begin pursuing their lives with little black books.

Faith
I knelt and took a long devastating breath. I held on to the dirt in my palm for as long as I possibly could. Amongst the soil were a few pebbles as well, one which stood out in particular. I gazed at it for a minute and finally drew my attention away from it. I had not gripped onto soil like this since I was a kid, so the texture was a little uneasy to my hand. I felt incredibly lost. I couldn't help the various thoughts and emotions that crossed paths inside of my head and heart. The moment was undoubtedly overwhelming. Regardless of how much of a burden these feelings were, they all felt right at the moment. I stood up and stared one last time at the roses that lay across. Finally, I released the dirt. I watched it drop over the flowers as it spread across the coffin. I knew that today was going to be a day that I would never forget.

Leonard
Leonard Franks had a massive collection of blank notebooks. Without a bookshelf each one migrated to the coves of his apartment. The more elegant ones scooted closer to the desk with hopes to be seen first, their smooth matte surfaces coming in every color from plum to buttered corn. The ones covered with “Look to the Stars…” and “Live Inspired” napped in drawers of nightstands or could be caught gossiping under the sofa. Whatever their antic of choice one thing was for certain, they were always multiplying. Leonard was always in the market for one more; something about those blank pages in the bookstore made him feel the potential of his thoughts having a place where they mattered.

Chasing Happiness
“Please don’t call here again!, Click.” I had made my last call for the day. As required by the office manager, we are only allowed to stop calling once we hit forty “Not interested” responses a day; However, today was Friday. To pump up morale, we are “gifted” a half day and only responsible for twenty not interested. Unfortunately, most of the offices we were calling on were also in on the half day morale booster, so it took til exactly 3:47pm to hit my quota.

Of hearts and minds
I didn’t choose to be born but here I am living this thing called life. I was doing well until I was diagnosed with cancer. You know before cancer I always admired people from different walks of life. My favorite thing used to be going outside for a walk and coming across people and studying them. Most times it hurt me to see other people because their eyes would be lifeless and full of pain. That would usually leave my mind racing with the idea of having the ability to solve people's problems. But yes cancer has changed my life and I learned that being diagnosed with cancer is not the hardest part but hearing the three words you are dying is. A couple of weeks pass and there is nothing the doctors can really do for me. A social worker visits me every other day to ask me about what I would want for my make-a-wish but I didn’t want to think about It. It means that death is creeping around the corner. It means that my time is coming up. I know I said I didn’t choose to be born but I haven’t lived yet. I want to do something with my life. The social worker is very persistent though so one day she came back to my room with the CEO of make-a-wish. I was surprised to see the CEO because there was no need for him to be here or at least I thought. The CEO has a positive attitude and even manages to make me laugh once. He tells me that I can choose anything and that he will make it happen. It took me a while but after I raced back and forth with my thoughts I asked for twenty thousand dollars. The CEO was now shaken and he wondered why I asked for twenty thousand dollars but he didn’t ask. Instead, he informs me of something he has ready for me and I listen. He offers me a small black notebook and he says that if I believe enough that anything is possible. And then he hands me the book and walks off without saying another word. The room is silent again and I’m left with my own thoughts. What could this small black notebook do for me? I wondered because it looks magical and odd. It doesn’t feel and look like other notebooks. It almost feels like it gives off some sort of power. Then I realized what the CEO said before he left. He said if I believed enough anything is possible. So that night I went to bed hoping that the natures of the small black notebook would be revealed to me. The next day I woke up feeling better than usual. Then it hit me all of sudden why I wanted twenty thousand dollars and why the CEO gave me the small black notebook. The CEO knew my heart. He knew I wanted to help people. He knew that I loved watching people and he knew that it hurt me to see others suffer. He knew what I was going to ask for when he came into my room that day because he knew I had others at heart. He knew what I was all about. And now I know what I will do with the money and the notebook even if it means using my last days for others. In a few days, the small black notebook will reveal its magic and I will be ready. A few days passed and now the time has come. In the next couple of days, I will use the twenty thousand dollars to travel around the world and take people’s pain away. Whoever comes across me and whoever is in pain will magically have their life changed for the better. The small black notebook has the ability to take people’s pain away. The downside is that I cant save myself but this is my purpose. This is the life I was dealt and I am happy to lay my life for others. I did this for a few months and I saved countless lives. There was a girl on the edge of the bridge about to end her life. She reminded me of myself the first few weeks of my cancer journey, I opened the small black notebook and her pain and all her thoughts were drained from her and into the book. She breathed in and she was filled with a new life. She took a step down and came running past me with a smile and tears running down her face. And this was something I loved doing. But twenty thousand dollars could only last for so long and my time was running out. When I accepted the magic book I accepted the risk of my time on this earth going down with each life I saved and gave more time to. I did my last save of my lifetime and I decided to go to the beach for what’s coming to an end. I am sitting under the beach umbrella when I decide to open the small black notebook and I am saddened but also content to see the faces of the people I impacted. These people were now living a happy life because of the sacrifice I made and I am for once grateful to have been born. I had a purpose and I served it. I took my last breath in awe knowing the CEO was on his way to choosing his next savior, the next person who will be dealt with the small black notebook.

Bubble Gum Pink
“Damn!” I yelled. I just missed the train. The last rain standing between getting to work on time to and now getting to work late. I had just run 7 blocks and up 2 flights of stairs and still got left behind. I could feel my heart beat through my chest and hear it pounding through my ears.

The little black book that fell from above
The little black book that fell from above It was a warm summer day, during the year 1910 at an orphanage in a small city in Jalisco, Mexico. Alejandro had been sitting outside on the swings thinking about what it would be like to have real brothers and sisters. He had friends who he considered to be his siblings since they had grown up together, but none of them were related to him. He heard the bell ring which meant it was suppertime; but he hesitated to go inside. He knew if he didn’t return soon that he would be forced to do chores and he would surely miss out on dinner. Food was scarce, especially living at a shelter where the food wasn’t enough for the number of kids they had. As he jumped off the swing and made his way to the big wooden doors, he said a prayer in silence. He prayed that a kind and loving family would one day adopt him, he knew they had to be out there somewhere in the world.

No words
Each one is different but they all have a similar flow. I’m heading somewhere I enjoy, either by myself, with friends or my mate to a place far away. Most of the time I don’t quite know where I am but last night I had to of gone to Hawaii, there were a lot of palm trees and coconuts.

The Little Black Book
If found please return to Janice Elizabeth at 449 Triangle Circle, New York, NY, 55351 “I feel as though I’m a spirit experiencing life in human form”, I wrote in my little black book. “And as I experience life as a human, I become more and more anxious to discover the purpose of my human life”, I continued. “I’ve decided to journal some of the lessons that my human experience has taught me to accomplish the one goal that we all have in common; true happiness.” I closed my book and turned off my light. I layed there silently. Not many people are able to lay in a dark room alone with nothing but their thoughts, but I had become more in tune with my soul than my ego and this gave me peace of mind. My thoughts faded as I slowly drifted into slumber.

Small Town Sins
Small Town Sins Written by Joshua H.B. Dennard Email: [email protected] June 8th, 2023, didn't think towns like this still existed been here for at least two weeks. Physical therapy starts tomorrow! It's hot and uncomfortable there are lights that buzz constantly I can hear moaning of elderly and sick. I'm pretty sure I might never walk again but at least my nurse is cute. Hope they approve me for two sponge baths a day. Optimism is all I feel like I got, being shot is one thing doing it in Hicksville, USA is another.
