He Ignored His Mother’s Calls… Until It Was Too Late
Sometimes we realize someone’s value only after losing them forever

Rayan was busy chasing success.
Every morning, he woke up with one goal in mind—to make money, build a better future, and prove himself to the world. He worked long hours, ignored sleep, skipped meals, and slowly became distant from everyone around him.
Especially from the person who loved him the most.
His mother.
She called him every day.
Sometimes in the morning.
Sometimes late at night.
But most of the time, he ignored the calls.
Not because he hated her.
Not because he didn’t care.
He just thought he was “too busy.”
Whenever she called, he would look at his phone and whisper,
“I’ll call her later.”
But later never came.
His mother lived alone in their old house in the village. The same small house where Rayan grew up. The same place where she spent years sacrificing her happiness so her son could have a better life.
She worked through sickness.
Through pain.
Through loneliness.
All for him.
And yet…
The older he became, the less time he gave her.
One evening, while Rayan was working on his laptop, his phone started ringing again.
“Mom Calling.”
He looked at the screen for a few seconds… then rejected the call.
A minute later, she called again.
He sighed in frustration.
“What now?” he muttered.
He answered quickly.
“Mom, I’m busy right now. I’ll talk later.”
Her voice sounded weak.
“Beta… I just wanted to hear your voice.”
Rayan closed his eyes impatiently.
“I said I’m busy.”
Then he hung up.
That night, he didn’t call back.
The next morning, he woke up late.
His phone had several missed calls from an unknown number.
Then one message.
“Please come to the hospital. Your mother is not well.”
His heart stopped.
For a moment, the world felt silent.
He rushed to the hospital as fast as he could.
His hands were shaking.
His mind was full of fear.
And guilt.
When he reached the hospital, a doctor stopped him outside the room.
“You are her son?”
Rayan nodded quickly.
The doctor looked at him sadly.
“She kept asking for you all night.”
Those words broke something inside him.
Rayan slowly entered the room.
His mother was lying quietly on the bed.
Weak.
Pale.
Connected to machines.
For the first time in his life, she looked small.
Fragile.
He walked closer with tears in his eyes.
“Mom…”
Her eyes opened slowly.
And despite all the pain she was in…
She smiled.
A soft, tired smile.
The kind only a mother can give.
She held his hand weakly.
“You came…”
Rayan broke down crying.
“I’m sorry, Mom… I’m so sorry.”
He kept apologizing.
Again and again.
For every ignored call.
Every missed visit.
Every moment he chose work over her.
His mother gently touched his face.
“It’s okay, beta,” she whispered.
“Mothers don’t stay angry.”
Those words destroyed him completely.
Because even after all his mistakes…
She still forgave him.
A few moments later, her breathing became slower.
The machines started beeping loudly.
Doctors rushed into the room.
Rayan stepped back in fear.
“No… no… please…”
But life doesn’t wait for regrets.
A few minutes later, the doctor looked at him quietly.
“I’m sorry.”
That was it.
The woman who waited every day just to hear her son’s voice…
Was gone forever.
Rayan stood there in silence.
Broken.
Empty.
He looked at her phone lying beside the bed.
There were dozens of unanswered calls.
All to him.
That night, for the first time in years, Rayan went home early.
But this time…
No one was waiting for him.
The house felt colder.
Quieter.
Lifeless.
He walked into his mother’s room and saw something on the table.
A small notebook.
Inside it were written simple lines:
“Did Rayan eat today?”
“I hope he’s not working too hard.”
“May Allah protect my son.”
Tears rolled down his face endlessly.
Because even in her last days…
She was still thinking about him.
Days turned into weeks.
But the guilt never left.
Now, every time his phone rings late at night, his heart aches.
Because the one call he ignored the most…
Was the one he would give anything to receive again.
And slowly, he realized a painful truth:
Success means nothing…
If you lose the people who loved you before you became successful.
💡 Moral:
Never ignore the people who truly love you—especially your parents. Money can return, success can return, but lost time and lost people never come back. Sometimes, the biggest regrets in life are the calls we didn’t answer and the love we failed to appreciate while we still had it.
