It's okay not to be okay.
I know that phrase is thrown around quite a bit. Well... that’s because it rings so true.
It is one of those phrases that if all is well in life at the specific moment you hear it, it becomes a cute quote. But, if you hear it when the big bad world is kicking your butt, you immediately burst into tears as if you’ve been given permission to empty your tear glands.
It can be comforting to know everyone else is going through their own struggles and you’re not alone, but in all honesty, at that time, you don’t really care about anyone else’s life. You just want yours to get better.

Sis, bro, I’m here to tell you, from my experience, you have to be VERY intentional about happiness. I tend to dive head first into whatever will either get my mind off my issues or take the first step into solving the issue. Not going to lie, I lean towards the former. One minute I’ll be sitting with my head in my hands wondering how I’m going to sort my life out, the next I’m in bed watching a TV series and giggling as if all is well in life. And I must say, that ALWAYS makes me feel better when I have to eventually deal with life.
Sometimes I just get tired of life and the whole cycle of life work, sleep, work and I just need everything to pause for a day or two so I can get my bearing. This usually happens every couple of months for me. What do I do about it you ask? I MAKE MY LIFE PAUSE FOR A DAY. I literally take a day where I do absolutely nothing, contact no one and ignore all my responsibilities. I know this seems extreme but I know myself. If I keep pushing when I know I’ve reached the end of my tether, I’ll break and that’ll take more than a couple of days to fix. So I choose to intentionally lose just that one day.
I say all this to say, be kind to yourself; life is harsh enough as it is.
