We know that consistency, perseverance and hard work are essential for success. But we should also learn from mistakes to avoid them in future. Most of us need inspiration to get motivated and stay on the right track. History is full of inspirational stories and people who struggled in career and became successful. All of these personalities had one thing in common, consistency. Here are a few inspirational stories that will motivate you to achieve goals.

Thomas Alva Edison

Thomas Alva Edison is known as the prolific inventor

The inventor of bulb and the famous scientist with over 1,093 patents, Edison was a school dropout. He once brought a letter from school and gave it to mother. She read the letter and when Edison asked, she said that the letter says “your child is genius, we don’t have teachers who can teach him”. After few years when his mother passed away, he found the same letter and it was written that “You child is a stupid, we can’t teach him”. Now, what was the thing which gave him the confidence to stay consistent and invent bulb even after failing for 1,000 times, it was the believe given by his mother. From this story, it is clear that self-confidence is an essential element for success.

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs introduced the first touchscreen phone, The iPhone

A poor love child with no hopes in life, Steve Jobs lived a miserable childhood. He was so poor to have good food so he used to visit a temple every Sunday after walking for 7 miles for a good meal. Jobs started college but didn’t find it interesting and left out. Later on, he started a company in his dad’s garage with his friend, Steve Wozniak. They worked hard and Apple Inc. grown to $2 billion with over 4,000 employees. At the age of 30, Jobs released his finest product, The Macintosh and he just got fired.

At this stage, he was depressed but in love with what he did. So, he started a new company named Next followed by another company, Pixar which is the largest animation house in the world. Later on, Apple bought next and Jobs returned to Apple just because of the technology he developed at Next. After returning, Jobs introduced various innovative products like iPhone, iPod, and MacBook. The thing that kept him going was perseverance and we can also learn a lot from this story.

Colonel Sanders

For those who think that success can be only achieved when you’re young, here is an inspirational story. Remember Colonel Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC)? Before getting 65, he tried almost every profession. He worked as a salesman, insurance agent and even started a business. But everything failed. Finally, he thought to sell his secret fried chicken recipe to restaurants but failed again. After getting rejected from more than 1,000 restaurants, he took a bold decision to start a restaurant.

At 65, he started KFC which in turn became a great success. When he turned 73, the business became successful enough to be sold in $2 million. Currently, KFC has over 10,000 outlets worldwide and the business worth around $5.1 billion. Passion and burning desire turned him from a mediocre to a successful businessman. We should also learn the importance of passion and try to make it profession.

Final Thoughts

There is no secret formula or a how to guide for success. You can only become successful if you are passionate and consistent. In other words, “Do what you love or love what you do”. Finally, perseverance and burning desire are the core factors of success and if you find inspiration along them, success is guaranteed.
