Dear You,

I want you to be happy. Yes, I know this is a big ask. It’s an important ask, one that comes with a LOT of strings. Luckily, you are well-equip to cut those strings, so bust out those scissors.

I want you to be bold. To live bold, and stay bold no matter what happens. Don’t let anyone dim your light. Live without boundaries- if only for a little. Think outside the box- then make it happen. Scream outside the box, if you will. Build your own destiny, forge your own path, dream your own dreams- without fear. Without distrust. Without resentment. Forget sanity for one microsecond and think big- then bigger yet. Tackle THAT goal, that dream, that hope- but keep it alive.

I want you to laugh. But I mean, really, truly laugh. Split some seams, bust a gut or two, laugh until you cry and then cry because you can’t stop laughing. Wipe that emotional blackboard clean with your laughter, and then infect the world with it. Pass that laughter along to one person, then two, then fifty. If anyone can do it, it’s you. I know you have it in you.

I want you to remember. Remember who you are and all you have accomplished, and what you have yet to accomplish. I want you to remember what dimmed your light to begin with, and use it as the fuel to reignite your spark. Turn the can’t do’s into candles of power, of life, of productivity and inner peace. Because guess what? Despite what you’ve heard; you are brilliant, you are capable, you are powerful, and you can glow.

I want you to believe. Believe in missteps rather than mistakes, in changes in course that will bring you to a better destination, in strength that is unwavering and value that is surpassing (and that you possess them both!) . Believe in the go-getters, not the nay sayers. Believe in the little guy with gigantic ideas, and the gigantic guy with mere sparks. Believe in hope, in spirit, in love, and in life.

I want you to jump. I want you to jump as high as you can and soar, to reach new heights, and to dip into the deepest canyons- but always find a way out. I want you to jump and reach treetops, and jump and falter- but always give it another shot.

I want you to trust. In yourself, in life, in love, in respect, in ideas new and old, in change. Trust in the unbelievable, and the believable. In what you never thought would happen in your wildest dreams- and the easiest thing to picture happening. I know you have thought of all of these scenarios- so put it to use! Use trust as a your parachute and take it with you when you jump- knowing that you will get caught on something fantastic. Maybe it’s not what you’re reaching for, but it’ll be alright (and right) no matter what.

But mostly, I want you to love yourself. Yes- another bold ask, but only this will truly bring your light. Because inevitably throughout your journey you will hit snags, you will falter, you will fail, but you will get up. You will dust yourself off again and again, you will regroup. You will accept yourself, believe in yourself, trust yourself, remember yourself, and depend on yourself. You will find yourself amongst your dreams and in those dreams and your truest self- you will find your light. That’s the moment you’ve been waiting for- your shining pinnacle. And in that pinnacle- you will love yourself.

Sincerely,

Someone Who Believes In You.
