If we can say one thing for certain is that whatever the social and technical improvement had happen in the word in last one century compared to the rest of the previous era, is because of the Books. Making reading a daily habit can do a lot of favors start from developing our concentration, knowledge on the particular subject, good speaking skills with flow and facts. There are various genre of books one can read starts from fictional, non-fictional, auto biography, historic novels etc. In this article I am going to list the top 5 self help books that one can read in 2023 to make impact on is personal and professional life. Let us read at least 01 page a day and make 1% improvement.

1. Tuesday’s with Morrie:

"Tuesdays with Morrie" is a memoir by Mitch Albom about his relationship with his former sociology professor, Morrie Schwartz. Albom resume his relationship with Morrie after seeing him on a news program and begins to visit him every Tuesday to learn life lessons. As Morrie in the brink of death, he imparts valuable wisdom on Mitch about love, relationship, success, and the meaning of life. The book is a touching and inspiring story conveyed to reader in the form of discussion between a Teacher and his former student.

“The last lecture” by Randy Pausch is an anecdote delivered on Carnegie Mellon University and later converted into book. The university used to conduct lectures in this title, asking professors and scholar to present on some topic they prefer considering that their last lecture. In this case Randy was affected by pancreatic cancer and this was indeed his last lecture on the topic of "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams,". In this book he recollects his childhood memories, lessons that he learned from his family by looking at the behavior of his parents, and the obstacle he endured in his path towards his dreams and how he overcame those with persistence and hard work.

This book is not just about achieving material success but it also speaks about how to be happy despite being infected by severe illness, maintaining relationship, bringing up children and all corners of life from the lessons learned throughout his life by a dying man. "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" by Dale Carnegie is fantastic self help book. This speaks about how one can handle and reduce the stress/ anxiety and improve the mental wellbeing, health and success in personal and professional life. The Author narrates the story of different people he came across during his career as a trainer and extracts the lesson from those life which we can implement into each one of us for the betterment of life. "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success" by Carol Dweck is well written self help book with supporting real life example and scientific research to reinforce the author’s idea about mindset. The author explains the different mindset – “Fixed and Growth” and the importance of incorporating “Growth Mindset” for a positive approach towards life, skills and career. In short, fixed mindset people thinks that their skills and talents were fixed already and there is no room for further development instead the Growth mindset people believes in the concept that any skillset can be developed through steady effort in learning and practicing.

The mindset can be changed and by adopting growth mindset one can achieve whatever he dreams for in his personal/ professional life. To understand the power of mindset and to change one’s perspective about life towards positive outlet you must read this book.
