Dream A Little Dream

Your dreams could be trying to tell you something

"I dreamt the same dream again, Grandma!", Aubree exclaimed as she ran through the front door of her Grandmother's house. Her Grandma turned towards her, arms agape with joy, and said, "Tell me all about it chic-a-dee. Was it the same one as all the other times?". Aubree had to close her eyes for a second and think really hard. Soon, she could almost feel the warmth over her face from the golden, glowing sun and hear the sounds of the waves crashing ashore. She could see a large ship on the horizon, but as soon as it disappeared she woke up every time without fail.

"Yup, same exact dream. Same ship and all.", Aubree said with a confused look on her face. "Why do you think this keeps happening?", she asked. Her Grandmother, not putting too much stock into the dream having any real significance, wanted to keep Aubree's simplistic innocence that only small children seem to have. The kind you seem to just grow out of as you mature and life throws an insurmountable amount of obstacles your way. "I guess we'll just have to pay really close attention to anything unusual that could relate to your dream in some way.", she said with a smile as Aubree started to take out her homework supplies.

For as long as she could remember, Aubree would have this recurring dream of the same ship over the horizon. She never really understood why. Was she to go on that ship in the future? Would there be a deeper meaning to the ship or the fact that it always disappears over the horizon? She could spend all day dreaming about that recurring dream, but right now she had to knock out her homework and fast because it's Friday night and her Grandma promised to take her to the carnival at the Church around the corner once her homework is all finished.

Luckily, Aubree didn't have much homework and in no time her and her Grandmother were meeting up with her big cousins by the Church. She always had a blast hanging out with her favorite cousins, Mikey and Chase, at the carnival every year. Within a matter of seconds, that dream that Aubree couldn't seem to get out of her head was long gone and all she could think of was all the fun she was having with her cousins. They rode so many rides, stuffed their faces with carnival treats, and last, but not least, they stopped to play some of the games. The games were always Aubree's favorite part of the carnival. She loved every single one of them from popping balloons with darts to throwing rings around the neck of a bottle to shooting water into the target to see who pops the balloon faster. Games were always the most enjoyable part of the night for Aubree, even though that always meant the night was almost over.

After a few games each, the carnival workers were all starting to close their stands up for the night. Aubree and her cousins were walking to meet their Grandmother toward the exit when she saw one last game open. It was a "place a bet and spin the wheel" type of a game. At the same time, she spotted a quarter on the blacktop glistening under the huge moon's generous glow. Within seconds, that quarter was in and out of Aubree's hand and onto the red diamond spot right before all bets were closed. She didn't even pay attention to where she put it or why. The wheel was spinning at a rapid speed before slowly coming to a halt at one specific winning section.

Next thing she knew, alarms were going off all around her and the worker that runs the game was freaking out. "We have a grand prize winner, Ladies and Gentlemen!", announced the game operator. "What did I win?! What did I win?!", asked Aubree bursting with joy because she never seems to have any luck with these games. To her surprise, this time was the exact opposite. "I am very pleased to announce that our grand prize winner, standing right here, will be able to put all her family's financial needs at ease because she just hit the BIG JACKPOT!!! Our winner will be walking away with a gigantic check worth $1.5 million courtesy of Clever Clover Carnivals!!!", screamed the carnival worker, who was also in pure shock when he read Aubree's total winnings amount.

Once Aubree woke up the next morning, she could have sworn it was all just another dream until her cousin came running in. "Good you're up.", he said. "Can you come outback and let the crew know where to install the jacuzzi?", Chase beamed as he could barely contain his excitement. "The what?! Wait, so this wasn't all a big dream?! We're really, actually, 100% rich??? No way!!!", Aubree freaked out yelling, thinking that there is absolutely no way this is happening. "Oh it's happening Bree. Better get used to it." Chase laughed as he walked outside to greet his mom who had just pulled up in the driveway.

"I can't believe your luck girl!", Aunt Sharon said as she ran up to Aubree and spun her around. "The best part about all this is the fact that we can all spend more time together since we don't have to stress about money ever again.", Aunt Sharon said to her, "None of us aren't going to know how to act without having to make something out of nothing all the time anymore. Why do you think you were the lucky lady this year?".

Aubree sat there for a while thinking. Why was she chosen this year? Ever since her Grandpa passed away a couple years ago, the whole family has really been struggling to make ends meet and this was the answer to all of their financial woes. Then she remembered her dream and approached her Aunt asking what she knew about dreams. She happened to pick the perfect person to ask. "Well that depends, kiddo. What type of dream are we talking about here?", she asked with curiosity. That's when Aubree told her everything about her ship dream.

"Makes sense.", Aunt Sharon replied after taking in all the facts about her niece's vividly recurring dream. "You see, that ship sailing over the horizon signified you about to get extremely lucky or blessed somehow. We clearly know how now though. You were totally right to think the two were connected. There's no way that they aren't. I'm really proud of you girlie. You're definitely smarter than most kids your age. It must run in the family!", Aunt Sharon managed to utter through her laughter. She couldn't stop laughing because she knew Aubree had no clue what was yet to come, but she knew that her niece's life was about to be everything she ever wanted and then some. If this girl only knew what she was about to get into. Aunt Sharon knew and she couldn't wait to share this experience with her gorgeous niece. Aubree was so excited to see for herself that she could hardly contain her excitement. "We are about to have the best time a family has ever had, but isn't that what always made us the rich? Long before we even stepped foot into that carnival we were winners. I mean, the money sure is nice, but we were already rich for what we have together…as a family.", she said as she walked out to start the beginning of their new life. Before stepping out, she looked at her family and she thought to herself, "Boy, I really am the luckiest girl alive...and that's not even counting the money!".
