Hi, 21!
I wanted to tell you that I understand the pressure you are under. Never before has a brand spanking new year had so much to live up to. But I am confident that you are able. Because let's face it, it can hardly get any worse now, can it?
Here are 6 things I am going to do this year.
1- After a full year of learning editing skills, I am going to upload better and funnier videos. I will do that on my newfound platform TikTok where I have made a whole new loving family of creators that support each other. I love it there and I am able to reach a lot of overseas friends that one day might come over for a tour. In Dutch we say: you never know how a cow catches a hare. Meaning that opportunity knocks.
2- I will write more because that is one of my first loves. I still remember when I found out about the alphabet after writing pages full of scribbles. My mind was blown. What a discovery and so much easier than plain hoping words appeared out of nothing. I was 4 years old, don't judge me!
3- YouTube is my inspiration and learning platform, as it is for a lot of people nowadays. I follow a select group of women there that told me how they blew up and make a lot of money by simply recording their lives. They also encouraged me to start before I am ready. That part is done, but being a perfectionist I was and am still contemplating what niche would be good for me. I think I will combine my need to make the world a better place with my love for history and amazing women and do a series about set women.
4- I was doing workshops with actual people in my studio before, and that was a lot of fun. When that became a thing of "absolutely impossible" there
was Airbnb that took me online. After the first few awkward tries, I have to say that I will never return to actual people. I like the connection with people in their natural habitat. It takes you places and lets you meet people that you never would in live life.
5- But it also gave me the idea to make a few online classes on the same things, minus the restrictions of conference calls. You do a lot of work once and make it available for people to purchase it and learn at their own speed. A passive income will sprout there.
I learned from my actual career as a guide, that it is a very smart move to make sure you have more than one source of income. There are a few months per year that are not making as much money and to just rely on your buffer is not enough. Last years ending of the world made that even more clear and it provided me with the ideal situation to work on that. I bought a course from Sarah Funk where she teaches me exactly how she went from 300 dollars to six figures in just a year and a half! And she is in the travel business too. She is not the only woman to inspire me online. Kelly Stamps is very clear on how she managed to go from working at a job to being self-employed. I am a fan of Cydnee Black and her Make-up and History episodes as well as her personality, she shows me that being authentic and true to your personality will land you the right audience that will love so see somebody they can relate to.
And last but not least there is my ultimate scary dream: stand up. I keep hearing that I am funny and tell the best stories. And to me, standup comedy is the ultimate form of art. Dare I take the stage one day?
About the Creator
Loukalicious
Abidextrous and colorful is what I am. As a private tour guide, I love telling stories about interesting events and people. I started writing before I even learned about the alphabet. When I found out about it was thrilled. Time saver...
