Content Makers Vrs. Christian Ministers?

Men and women are making so much wealth in kind and in cash for themselves by using God even though they do not know...

There’s a stark difference between a Christian content maker and a Christian minister. The demarcating line can be blurry at times but it’s certainly there. The nature of its apparently close similarity is what makes it even more trickier to identify but they are not the same. Content is content. To push further, content can be made from anything and anywhere as long as its central message is entertaining to the soul, mind and body.

The Christian life or gospel as we would put it can be socially considered as an idea or philosophy. Every ideological construct or philosophy may essentially come from a person or a people. From a secularist point of view, one does not need to necessarily be in close proximity or affinity to the source of an ‘idea’ or philosophy in order to partake in the worth of that idea or philosophy. As long as it works and has the potential to create traffic, that ‘idea’can be sort after. Take for instance the ‘idea’ of God or Christianity which over centuries has appealed to all manner of individuals who have sort to employ it whether deceptively or genuinely to draw human traffic to themselves because the 'idea' simply has some undertone economic and social value.

It is on this same wave as mentioned earlier that a lot of christian content makers today ride on. You find them in the clergy, in the music fraternity, in commerce and business, in our congregations and in every nook and cranny of societies hierarchy. A lot of these individuals only buy into the philosophy and ideology of Christianity without subscribing wholeheartedly to the Personality from whom ‘the idea’ stems from. They use Christianity as a leverage to amass wealth, fame and a name for themselves whiles deceiving innocent and undiscerning individuals into believing that these folks are leading them to the God of the Christian.

I often would view the Pharisees and Sadducees in the days of Jesus in this light. They embraced the idea of God so well and utilized to their own benefit and yet did not know this God to whom they spoke so highly of. Even in their glaring presence they failed to notice Him. Paul In 1 Timothy 5:7 qualified such people as teachers of the law who did not understanding or know exactly the gravity of what they were teaching. This is the conundrum we face today.

Men and women are making so much wealth in kind and in cash for themselves by using God even though they do not know Him. All this is in arrant contrast to what it means to be a Christian minister. Mark 3:14 categorically enlightens us to understand exactly the first call of anybody who wants to be and explore the possibilities of life as a Christian which is to first and foremost be called by God unto God. It is of no eternal value to attempt to explore anything that concerns God without getting to know God Himself. We can not go out there to attempt to do exploits in the name of God without having an active knowledge of the one to whose ideas and philosophy we seek to sell.

Christianity is more than any platonic or Lucian idea or philosophy. It transcends the conceptions of Socrates or Confucius whose notions could be bought into without having a relationship with them. Paul tells the Colossian assembly in Colossians 4:17 KJV ''And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfill it." A real ministry and not just content making is received in the Lord and not out of Him. Any other thing is only a self instated effort to make a living for oneself with absolutely no eternal value in mind. I concede that the social media era we find ourselves in makes it very difficult for many to actually know who is just a mere content maker and a true minister. And I also concede that it’s becoming more and more difficult to genuinely do ministry without falling for the pressure to do things just to attract traffic which has some economic value. But we must realize that at the end of the day the call of the believer is to direct men to Christ just as they are also personally being led to Him. We must know the one for whom we name ourselves after , Jesus Christ the Son of the living God.
