Coffee is My Security Blanket
Energy Boost, Calming Agent, Cup of Comfort

What puts me in my comfort zone?
Three little words: "The Coffee's On!"
Water bubbles, dripping down
Through the dry roast coffee grounds.
Into the sparkling carafe -
Oh! What a way to start the day!
Anticipation slowly mounts,
Get the Splenda and creamer out.
Choose a mug from my collection,
Each a memory, a reflection
of another place and time,
Memories sad, or so sublime!
Savor the smell as the cup is filled;
Let the anticipation build.
Steam wafts upward from the mug,
Embracing my senses like a hug.
Lift it up, inhale the scent...
Coffee time is time well spent!
AHHHH!
Let the world wait...
I am occupied.
My taste buds are going for a ride!
Thanks for reading my poem about the joys of savoring a delectable cup of coffee and feeling the joy and sensational comfort it brings!

It Only Took One Minute.......
It only took a minute. I was sitting at the computer in my office when the phone rang. I picked up the receiver and then laid it down my desk as I went to find the student who the call was for. Within seconds I was back at my desk, ready to resume typing, when I heard the student yelling obscenities at me for listening in to his call through the handset that was still lying on the desk. Sick and tired of the lies he was spewing, I was up running down the hall, ready to kill him. By the time I reached him, I had calmed enough not to hurt him, but as I turned back towards my room, I knew that I couldn’t go on like this any longer. The decision was clear. I had to leave.
