Breathe. You are still finding peace, right here in the wild of things.

This is where courage happens:

when you let yourself slow down long enough to breathe deep.

So many things are going to change around you, and this will still be true. Every hour, every minute, there will be room to breathe one slow, courageous breath that will lead into the next one. You will realize that even with a crowded mind and even doors closed, there is room within your soul to remember peace beyond understanding.

I cannot tell you that at that moment the whole world will stand still and you will feel the beautiful slowness of the world, blowing through the branches on the other side of your window. But I can tell you, one moment you spend just paying attention to the reality that you’re still breathing is one more moment where you will be reminded that your heart is beating and you are still living. The same heart that has carried the weight of both dreams and brokenness is still here, alive in the well within you.

“One moment you spend just paying attention to the reality that you’re still breathing is one more moment where you will be reminded that your heart is beating.”

So let yourself be present here. Even when you feel like you might crack under the pressure of it all, remember all of the things this heart of yours has always endured. You have known love and you have known a lack of love. You have known grief and you have known joy. You have known anger and you have known peace. You have traveled through the wild of so many things without even realizing it. You have traveled through millions of thoughts and feelings even just over the past few weeks and throughout each season.

“So let yourself be present here. Even when you feel like you might crack under the pressure of it all.”

Through it all, all by grace, you have known peace beyond understanding.

You have noticed the silk blue sky cover the space above the trees at the moment where you were ready to give up everything.

You have felt the fullness of your own laughter welling up within your body that felt tired, empty, and unfulfilled.

Without even realizing it, you put your hand over your heart.

It’s still there…

It did not fall apart. It is still beating. You are still able to breathe. You are still here despite everything. You are still finding peace, right here in the wild of things.

Word of the Day: Moment, “a very brief period of time”

Daily Affirmation: “I am free to take deep breaths, right here in this present moment.”

Journal Prompt: Write down five things you see and three things you hear at this very moment. Slow down and remind yourself that despite all that is happening, you are capable of coming into this present moment. Allow yourself to slow down long enough to catch your breath once again.
