In a world that grew as dark as the crevices of hell last year it is time we make it possible to achieve immensely brighter things starting this one out. We have given in to the hate, the sadness, and the negativity that swept us off our aching feet. 2020 showered us with problems we only had nightmares we would face. Yet, a world divided is still a world not yet matured. A world not yet able to feel the compassion of strangers. I don’t know when it became wrong to lift ping the spirits of those around you. Yet, now we live in a world where kindness has been mocked and laughed at. Where patience has been impatiently challenged. Where love is rushed with lascivious intent. The world is burned by madness. Scorched ever so deeply into our everyday lives. A bid we have decided in routine to take on. Rest assured we never had to.

It’s time to start anew and believe in ourselves in ways we have never been able to before. Life is incredibly too short to live overcome with the anguish we have had thrown at us time and time again. It is okay to feel that hurt and that pain. The part in which we falter is when we sit in that pain 24 hours a day seven days a week as if we have to. But you see the thing is after awhile it is more comfortable to have an uncomfortable hug from your pain than it is to feel nothing at all. And we cling to that. We cling to any type of emotion we can because we live in a world where emotion is shunned. If you feel too much you’re sensitive. If you think too much you shouldn’t. Every single person has a story and yet we act as ours is any more important than the people around us. As if we aren’t all struggling in one area of life or the next.

Rights are hypocritical through and through. The country is divided. And life, again, is just too damn short to keep anything but the peace. We had a year of hell, racism, sex trafficking, murder, and more that fall under the “what in the absolute fuck was this year” category.

Our lives changed from COVID-19 in ways that have damaged us more than I think we could have ever thought possible. It hurt so many, took so many, and cause so many inconceivable changes that shook the Earth as it rotated in space. Only it felt as if the Earth stood dramatically still. In a way that left many of our hearts, minds, and spirits shattered. It would almost seemed pointless to fuel the fire of negativity and hatred that spread at rapid speed along the land we so proudly call our own. In truth there is nothing to be proud of.

We have done this to ourselves. We let our worlds clash at such high speed that we forgot the bigger picture. Peace. We have come so far with the bullshit that I’m pretty sure most of us have forgotten what peace is. Love your neighbor, share the best memories of your life, take risks, speak your mind all 2021. Because 2020 was the very last year we are putting up with anything but positivity, love, and light. Lift at least one person up on the daily. Even more because the feeling is beautiful. Putting a smile on someone’s face is more worth it than you’ll ever admit. Watch and see how refreshed you will feel to love instead of living inside your head feeling lost and defensive. Feeling let down is one thing. Letting yourself down is worse. Be the very start to the changes that will shape a world built for love and respect. Be the change we need. This is a plea for peace.
