Confidence is important for every individual. Be it a job interview or a personal relationship, it is the first thing that is considered and looked for in any person. But at times, when you face a sudden tragedy or loss, you end up losing your confidence. If you have undergone a situation that has dented your confidence, don't worry, there are ways through which you can get it back and redeem yourself in your eyes again!

1. Get into Your Comfort Zone

This is usually what the opposite of what people see, but hear me out on this. Every individual enjoys comfort and has an activity that relaxes them. Whether its food, watching art, a good book, movie/TV, hanging out with certain people, or going to a certain location, you must focus on what makes you comfortable. Take a break from the chaotic life routine to re-energize yourself. Just like your body needs rest, so does your mood. Stay relaxed instead of getting distracted by your issues.

2. Change the Way You Think

Stop doubting yourself and change the way you think. You need to take measures to cultivate new thoughts into your mind. Always remember that the majority of our problems are self-created. Take a stand for yourself and slowly you will be able to stand up for everyone that you love as well. There is a mantra that I use in my life: "To get somewhere new, I must THINK something new!"

3. Don’t Fake Your Smile

Don’t smile for the sake of smiling. Smile as you mean it and with confidence! Wear a smile on your face regardless of your surroundings and you will soon see a change in everyone around you including yourself. The light that comes from within will shine from without. You never know what a simple smile can do to someones day.

4. Don’t Have a Hideous Posture!

The way you carry yourself determines your physical appearance. It also affects your inner dialogue and emotion. A hideous posture can go against you. Our body language says a lot about us. We often want to look healthy and fit. When we make a habit of sitting and standing straight, this can make a huge difference in the way we see ourselves.

5. Start with Baby Steps

Everything starts slow. Don't get disappointed if you need to take baby steps to change and gain confidence. Consider it as a start and understand that baby steps will take you where you want to be. Always remember that everyone starts at some point in life. Every expert was once a beginner. Success all depends on the second letter. Success depends on YOU my friend. One of my favorite quotes from The Matrix is: "The only way to get there, is to get there!" The journey of one thousand miles always begins with a single step.

6. Take Care of Your Hygiene

Cleanliness is important for confidence. You won't feel good about yourself if you are smelly or sweaty, and other people won't take you seriously if you don't value yourself. Regardless of your life situation, make sure to stay clean and that will also help you to gain more confidence.

7. Confront Your Fears

Everyone has some fears even if they don't want to admit it. Some people are afraid of the snakes, some are afraid of heights, loss of control, dark, and anything that comes under the sun. All these fears are natural and everyone has something they are afraid of at some level. Try to confront your fears gradually and this will help you to gain confidence. One of my favorite books is by Susan B. Jeffers. It's called Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway! That book taught me that, no matter what, I could face my fears because I really had nothing to lose and everything to gain.

8. Redefine Yourself

Redefine yourself. We often define ourselves by our present situation. Your past decisions and future plans can predict some of your present choices, but you must define who you are. Spend some time thinking to yourself. Set boundaries and rules and follow them. These boundaries are your morals and will make you who you are.

9. Embrace Your Mistakes

We mostly judge people on their success, but that shouldn't be the case. Everyone starts somewhere in life and so can you. In fact, most of the successful people in life have gone through immense struggle and hardship which has defined and set the tone of success for them. Accept your mistakes and instead of beating yourself up, learn from these mistakes to keep on making progress.
