I attempted to create as many good behaviors as possible when I first tapped into personal growth.

I set up a routine in the morning, began meditating, regularly went to the gym and read at least one book a week.

And, I didn't feel happier, more fulfilled, or stronger one year later.

And I didn't understand why, even though I had developed all these modern, strong habits, my life did not change.

One of the bold promises of the world of self-help is to change your habits and you'll change your life, and I didn't know why it didn't work for me.

But it is true: the rituals can be life-changing.

Yet what I have missed is that if you do not let go of your bad behaviors first, those positive routines are not worth much.

Very often, it's our little, damaging habits that break our results, not the lack of good ones.

The following patterns are definitely not easy to give up, but you will not only feel relieved but also much more energized in your everyday life until you let go of them.

Out of a molehill, you make a wall.

Have you ever made a wonderful decision because you have spent a lot of time thinking about it?

Neither did me.

The irony is that by overthinking, we never make good decisions.

We make all our decisions in the blink of an eye, according to Malcolm Gladwell. Nevertheless, we are not conscious of it and want to have a rational explanation. That's why we overcomplicate the bulk of our choices.

Gladwell describes, in his book Blink, how all our choices are based on our intuition.

By thinking logically, we don't make the right choices, we just try to find reasons based on our gut feelings about decisions we have already made.

However, if you go with the flow, encourage yourself to make mistakes, and correct your path on the way, life is so much simpler and enjoyable.

It may sound wise to spend time worrying about issues or decisions, but it isn't.

Many individuals overthink daily conditions and end up wasting hours and hours without achieving results.

Tiny actions can lead to big improvements: why not try to pick your next restaurant meal faster than you would normally do?

Try and keep the little stuff in your life under control. Give your best to take as quickly as possible the unimportant choices.

You're consumed with the perceptions of other people.

How much do you get frustrated due to the views of other people?

The odds are high that it is too often your response.

The bad news is that everybody will never be able to please you. However, the good news is that it does not matter.

You have one life, and by living up to others' expectations, you do not need to waste it.

To please others, stop interrupting your inner voice and start sharing your light with the world.

You live on the weekend.

Too many individuals are wasting their lives looking forward to the weekend.

For people who are not content in their employment and spend the whole week surviving instead of living, this is an especially dangerous pit.

The reality, however, is that weekends are just a small part of your life. From Monday to Friday, you can't be sad and expect these bad emotions to be compensated for by the weekend.

A week is a good time for setting tiny, practical goals and tracking your progress. And if you like what you do, it's a new chance every Monday to create an unforgettable week.

Avoid blaming Monday and define the part you really hate in your life. That's the only way you can remove it and create a genuinely enjoyable week and life.

You will celebrate every day as an opportunity to share your gift with the world if you live a life you enjoy.

You're afraid of progress.

You don't have to be cheerful about all that's going on in life. Yet, you shouldn't be held back by your doubt.

We all know that, at some point in our lives, things might be much worse.

Even the fact that you are actually reading this article suggests that you are among the world's richer, more affluent individuals.

Life is changing more rapidly than ever before, and we may face new challenges every day. That's why, in the long run, the most adaptable individuals will always succeed.

In your life, every challenge will help you grow and become a better version of yourself. Be bold, keep your mind on the positive aspects, and try new stuff. Even if it gets too frightening anyway.

It is easier said than done to quit being afraid, but it's still one of the most overlooked pieces of advice.

You want to please everyone.

How much do you find yourself doing something just to make another person happy?

Yeah, it's nice and important to do something often just for the sake of making someone happy, but most of the time, our inability to say no is the problem.

You won't be able to say hell yes to the ventures, people, and opportunities that really excite you if you can't say no to the wrong stuff.

You'll overlook your own needs if you only want to satisfy others.

However, the first move is to realize what you're really striving for. You need to be conscious of your mission in life, your goals, and your objectives.

You are living paycheck to paycheck.

Every single day, we’re being bombarded with thousands of sales pitches. Making purchases is simpler than ever before and great marketers know how to catch our attention, even if we don’t need anything.

Yet the harsh truth is that overspending will not only ruin you financially, but it’ll also harm other areas of your life.

You can’t increase the quality of your life if you always live paycheck to paycheck and are surrounded by stuff you don’t need.

Before spending it, get used to saving your money and escape the trap of wasting your entire paycheck on consumer goods.

You could face sudden emergencies sooner or later. When these things arise, instead of waiting for your next paycheck, you'll be grateful to have a safety net.

You remain in the past.

By spending so much time thinking about the past, the surest way to live a miserable life is.

You need to learn how to be present and to appreciate the small joys of daily circumstances if you want to be happy and fulfilled.

Try being completely present right now instead of worrying about your past failures or fearing the future. And it's just time now that you can affect and alter.

Nothing about the past will affect you, and you can't determine your future. But you should do your utmost to enjoy every moment and live carefully.

Start to concentrate on the moment. In order to live your best life, what will you do today?

Set everyday intentions, reflect on your goals, and think of all the things for which you are grateful.

You speak down yourself.

Imagine making a friend who was 24/7 following you, asking you stuff like:

"Too fat, you are."

"You're nasty."

"That you can't do."

"You don't deserve it."

Will you like the friend's company?

Possibly you wouldn't.

And, all too often, we are our own mates. Many individuals are experts at talking down themselves. But the most significant one is your friendship with yourself.

You are the one one who will forever be with you.

But be sure to get on well with yourself and instead of your own critic, be your own cheerleader.

Concentrate on your strengths and accomplishments.

When you achieve great stuff, it's easy to be optimistic and proud, but you need to be your own fan, even if you fail miserably.

You will meet so many people in your life who will try to discourage you or don't value your accomplishments.
