Benefits of morning exercise extend well beyond just the physical health.

It is no secret that exercise is good for you. Exercise has myriad benefits for your physical health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. But did you know that exercising in the morning can be especially beneficial? There are an astonishing 205,000 posts with a hashtag #morningexercise just on Instagram highlighting the enormous advantages of squeezing in a sweat session first thing after waking up.

Here are seven reasons why you should make time for a morning workout:

1. You’ll Be More Productive Throughout the Day

When you work out in the morning, you’re giving yourself an energy boost that will carry with you throughout the day. Studies have shown that people who exercise in the morning are more productive at work and in their personal lives than those who do not exercise in the morning.

2. You’ll Be Less Likely to Skip Your Workout

Life is busy, and it’s easy to find yourself feeling too tired or pressed for time to fit in a workout. If you exercise in the morning, however, you won’t have any excuse not to work out at some point that day. Even if your day runs late or something comes up that forces you to miss your workout later on, at least you still got one in before things got hectic!

3. You’ll Burn More Calories Throughout the Day

When you exercise first thing in the morning, your metabolism speeds up for many hours after – this means that even when you aren’t working out anymore, the calories are still burning! That said, it doesn’t have to be an intense morning workout – even a brisk walk (or any other form of exercise) will keep your metabolism working for hours.

4. You’ll Be More Motivated to Eat Healthier

When you start your day with a workout, you’re more likely to make healthy food choices throughout the day. That’s because you don’t want all that hard work you did in the morning to go to waste! So if you treat yourself after your workout, it should be with something healthy and nutritious, not with a sugary treat or fast food lunch. And who doesn’t feel better after eating some fresh fruit or veggies?

5. You Won’t Have to Work Out as Long or as Hard

If you’re short on time, working out in the morning can be a great way to get your workout done without having to spend hours at the gym. And because your metabolism is already revved up from your morning workout, you won’t have to work out as hard to see results. So if you don’t have time for a long, strenuous workout, don’t worry – a shorter morning workout will still do the trick!

6. You’ll Sleep Better at Night

Exercise has been shown to improve sleep quality, and working out in the morning can help you sleep better at night. That’s because exercise raises your body temperature, which then falls during sleep to help you fall asleep faster and get a better night’s rest.

7. You Won’t Let Anything Get in Your Way

When you make time for exercise in the morning, it can be easy to say yes to other things throughout the day without thinking twice because you know that your workout is already done! But if you work out in the afternoon or evening, you may find yourself feeling guilty about skipping your workout – even if something else comes up (like an unexpected meeting at work) that requires your attention. When this happens, something always has to give – and more often than not, that “something” is exercise. So by working out in the morning, you’ll make sure that nothing gets in the way of your workout!

As you can see, there are many benefits to exercising in the morning. So if you’re looking for a way to improve your physical and mental health, as well as your productivity and overall quality of life, consider making time for a morning workout! You won’t regret it!
