There are over 600 million blogs in the world today, out of over 1.7 billion websites.

And over 2.5 billion blog posts are being published each year worldwide. That’s 6,912,000 blog posts published per day, and 4,800 blog posts published each minute. (2021, Internet Live Stats)

The doorsill for being a blogger is never so low. All you have to do is a computer/ laptop and wifi. As long as you can write and type, you can start a blog at any time, anywhere.

Being a blogger is also the most common job for digital nomads around the world. The COVID pandemic has unpredictably accelerated the steps for work from home and freelancing, which is a good thing in my eyes. People nowadays have more options for income and work.

But as the above date report mentioned, the blogging competition is big. Everyone dreams of working on the beach drinking fruit juice and blogging one article per day to receive $ $$$ income.

Maybe a few of us have reached that goal, but definitely not for the rest of the millions of bloggers like you and me.

So, from my personal experience, I would like to share some useful tips for the future or current new bloggers:

1. Stop reading articles “how I made $$$ in 1 month” type of article

I know there are TONS of posts on Medium with titled articles like “How I made $2000 with no experience in the first month” or “My Monthly blogging income update.”

I am not judging the writers for posting this kind of article; I have learned several useful tips to enhance my posts. But, if you read them all the time, your confidence could be affected negatively, especially when your views or incomes are like $0.01 or less than one dollar.

So, stop reading this kind of blog and focus on doing what you are doing. Write every post well.

The views take time to increase, don’t worry too much at the very beginning. Find one or two publications you like, do some research, and imitate their structures and practice.

For example, I am a fan of the publication “Start it up”. I will read the “Editor’s pick ” and “Top 10 articles” to see the good examples and get familiar with what articles they like to curate.

Also, you can pay attention to the “write for us” articles from all the publications; it’s a guideline for their curation preferences.

2. Create a publication and get curated as many as you can

If you like writing articles from the same niche, such as self-help or design. Besides submitting to the big publications, you can also create your own publication.

Don’t limit yourself. You can do anything!

According to my research, the articles in a publication will have more views than those not.

Also, creating a publication is a good way to build your personal brand and get more like copywriting jobs.

I have created 4 publications; each of them represents 4 tops that I like to write. They are “baby publications” for now, but as time goes by and I keep writing daily, I believe they can be “big” one day!

3. Write what you like instead of what makes money

I know money is significant to everyone. But working only for money is torture.

Because you can’t pay much attention and enjoy the process of writing, instead, you have to worry a lot about the views and read times from audiences.

Maybe it’s necessary at the beginning because you need to build a reputation before you can write whatever you want.

But the audience can tell if you truly enjoy writing or list some ideas.

So write as if money is not important. Write as if you really love doing it. Then the miracle will happen. If not, probably you do not love it 100%.
