"Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice, and is never the result of selfishness." - Napoleon Hill

April the 25th is a day of significant importance, reflection, and remembrance for both Australia and New Zealand, as it was on this day back in 1915 in which the Australian and New Zealand armed forces landed at dawn on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey, where they would first engage in World War 1. It was a campaign devised to capture Constantinople and the Ottoman Empire, and eliminate them from further engagement in the war, as they were a close ally of Germany, however it would end up being a costly move, as the Australian and New Zealand troops, who formed the Allied expedition, would make up over 11,000 of the 56,000 lives lost in that battle. It is why the two countries have since reserved April the 25th on the annual calendar as a public holiday, and a day to remember and honor those who were prepared to sacrifice their lives in order to protect the lives of their countrymen, and all innocent civilians. Not only has Anzac Day become a day to honor and remember our fellow countrymen and women who did serve in World War 1, but also all those who have served in any wars and conflicts since. Talk about bravery and courage, these everyday average citizens of the two countries were called upon to defend our borders, to protect us and other innocent countries from the destruction and terrorism that the likes of Germany, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire, were trying to inflict on the world. It would be an incredibly difficult assignment to take on, be it voluntarily or involuntarily, because they were heading offshore to place their own life at risk, in a bid to save others, hence we use today as our way of honoring and remembering all those who did place their life at risk, and all those who did lose their life.

Today is the ultimate example of sacrifice. For these men and women to risk their lives to save us, it is courage personified. What's difficult to accept though, is that these such people risked and sacrificed their own life, so others could live their life in freedom and happiness, for generations to come, and yet here are so many individuals nowadays who won't even make sacrifices of their own, to live such a life of freedom and happiness. On one hand, we have people risking and sacrificing their own lives to save others, and on the other hand, we have people whinging and complaining that they don't have this and that in life, and it's all because they aren't prepared to make any sacrifices whatsoever. One is an act of courage and bravery, the other is an act of laziness and cowardice. So many of us constantly complain how about how we aren't living the life of happiness we desire, nor are we achieving the satisfaction, success, goals, and prosperity, that we long for, and yet, we don't do anything about it. We just sit back and expect life will magically grant us these blessings. Life doesn't work that way! If you desire something so greatly, then you need to be prepared to make sacrifices to achieve it. These such sacrifices don't even come close to the height of sacrifice our servicemen and women made, therefore it's inexcusable that we don't honor those who protected our right to freedom and happiness, by actually living the life they gave us the blessing us to enjoy. If we desire to achieve a goal, then we should commit 100% to achieving that goal, along with the actions that are needed to reach it. This means we need to sacrifice things like watching our favorite television shows, going out drinking with the friends each weekend, spending money on unnecessary luxuries, or lazing on the couch munching on chips whilst scrolling through social media. It's time to get off our backside, end this constant whinging and complaining, and start being proactive in working towards the goals and happiness we desire. Get stuck into the actions that are progressing us to these rewards. Our ANZACS sacrificed their right to such blessings, just to protect us, so we could enjoy these blessings instead, let's not dishonor them by not making our own sacrifices. To all the servicemen and women of Australia, past or present, fallen or present, I'd like to extend my absolute appreciation and gratitude to you for placing your life on the line just to protect people like my family and myself. Today I have listed 20 quotes about sacrifice that will hopefully inspire you to be courageous and proactive in making sacrifices, so you can go on to achieve success, happiness, satisfaction, fulfillment, prosperity, and your goals in your life.
