During a wedding every detail counts, because put end to an end they constitute the most beautiful day of your life, the one you have always dreamed of. The question: which tablecloth to choose for my wedding often goes unnoticed in the organization of D-Day, only it will attract attention if this aspect of the preparations is neglected. Afraid of making a mistake? Follow these 5 steps to choose the perfect tablecloth for your wedding.

  • Step 1. Consider the budget and know the prices
  • Step 2. Inquire at the place of reception
  • Step 3. Consider the time and type of wedding
  • Step 4. Find the perfect tablecloth
  • Step 5. Know the alternatives

Step 1. Consider the wedding budget and know the prices

The whole organization of your wedding depends on one thing and one thing only: your budget. The price plays a very important role and table linen is very rarely included in the forecast table of expenses. Far from being anecdotal, its cost can considerably tip the balance.

In the excitement mixed with the stress of marriage, we tend to forget it. Usually, the last-minute expenses that the tablecloths generate are assumable by the bride and groom, otherwise, you have little other solution than to accept the linen offered by your place of reception for lack of time or budget.

Step 2. Inquire at the place of reception

Before embarking on the quest for the perfect tablecloth, make sure of the terms of your reception venue to avoid any unnecessary expense. Indeed, some sites do not allow the addition of linens, so you will have to use theirs. Rest assured, however, they are generally flexible in this area.

If however you are forced to use the tablecloths made available by your place, do not worry, these will generally be in harmony with the decoration of the site.

Finally, if you want to buy your own household linen, make sure that it is in line with the site. Consistency is the key to successful decorating . So no more mixing styles, colors, and textiles, keep this mantra in mind: less is more.

Step 3. Consider the time and type of wedding when choosing the tablecloth

Since the appearance of wedding planners, each detail has been meticulously chosen and your decoration is organized to the millimeter. Regarding wedding tablecloths, there is still a protocol, it is up to you to decide whether to respect it or not.

What color should I choose for my wedding tablecloth?

The timing of the wedding is important. In the case of a morning wedding outside, for more modernity, we opt for bright colors that contrast with the surrounding nature.

However, if you want to organize a so-called traditional wedding, we put on the elegance of white or ivory. We also prefer pastel tones such as green or light blue. A celebration of this type requires matching chairs with upholstery of the same color. Purple or bougainvillea are also popular colors for classic weddings. Match with white or enamel tableware to create contrast.

At a night wedding, we prefer soft tones and touches of light. White, beige, ocher, or satin are the most common. Special mention to the gold tablecloths which always have their effect. These warm tones will add sparkle to your entire table. The lace combined with napkins in bright colors such as garnet or olive green, will contrast with the sobriety of your tablecloth adding a little pep to your decoration.

Step 4. Find the perfect tablecloth

The perfect tablecloth should, like the rest of your decoration, reflect your personality and respect the common theme of your wedding style.

Consider the colors and don't always be won over by your favorite tones. This must be in accordance with your dishes and the atmosphere of the place. Do not only choose your linens according to your tastes but also according to the atmosphere of your wedding.

We also take into account the type of tables you have chosen. Although round tables are the most used models at a wedding, there are other types that could suit you just as well. Before deciding on the final tablecloth, define the type of table you want.

Your tablecloth can also be your best ally to improve the look of your place of reception. Bright colors and prints are used to bring sad places to life and generate interesting contrast without becoming grotesque.

For imperial tables, the tablecloths must follow certain rules. Obviously, the tablecloth will have to be larger than the table in both length and width without touching the ground, with the central fold in the middle of the table. Size problem? It is advisable to place another tablecloth of a different color underneath to contrast with the first.

Step 5. Know the alternatives to classic tablecloths

Times are changing and, as in all areas, the field of possibilities is increasing. In perpetual evolution, the bridal world is no exception to this rule and is modernizing even in household linen.

Alternatives to tablecloths depend a lot on the surface you want to use. If it is marble or a colored and resistant wood, you can opt for placemats and thus generate a contrast by letting the raw aspect of the table appear in places. Also, you can simply opt for a table runner alone. Both options are very elegant and modern at the same time.

A lot of bohemian or boho chic weddings these days don't have tablecloths, but instead sport elegant and quirky table runners with all sorts of flourishes. Flowers, leaves, plants, candles, or candies, your imagination is your only limit.

Rural wedding in a garden? To recreate a relaxed “picnic” atmosphere, colorful folding tables are also an option to consider.
