Top Tips For Choosing The Perfect Wedding Dress
Brilliant Perfect Wedding Dress Style And Inspiration Ideas 2017
When your partner pops the question and you say ‘yes’, you’re likely to start daydreaming about your wedding dress pretty sharpish – and rightly so, since it’s one of the most important elements of the day.
Before you hit the shops and start trying on frock after frock, though, read my tips for choosing the perfect dress.
Go In With An Open Mind
Most of us know what kinds of dresses we like and what we don’t – or at least think we do. A big mistake many brides make is ruling out several styles before they have even tried them.
Ok, so, you might be right – they could look absolutely awful. But, the truth is that you never know until you try, and your dream dress could be totally different from what you imagined.

Go in with an open mind and you’ll have a better chance of finding something that looks stunning.
Consider Your Body Shape
Next, you need to think about your body shape. It’s so easy to fall in love with something in a shop window and be totally blind to the fact it just doesn’t suit you when it comes to trying it on.
If you want to look your best, it’s important to resist the temptation to choose something that looks better on the hanger than it does on you.
Thinking about your body shape is a good way to get started – find something that accentuates your assets. The staff at the bridal shop should be able to give you some excellent advice.
Think About color
A lot of brides automatically opt for white, but even if you are after something traditional, this isn’t necessarily the best shade to go for – especially if you’re on the pale side, like me.
If you are pale, warmer alternatives can be much more flattering – think cream and champagne hues. Bronzer skins, meanwhile, tend to suit white well.

No matter what your skin tone, don’t rule out dresses in less traditional colors, like pale blues or even reds – it’s your day, so pick something that suits you and that you feel comfortable in.
Don’t forget to factor in the details
While the overall fit and look of your dress are, of course, important, don’t forget to consider all the little-related details, like where you are getting married, how you want to style your hair and what accessories you’d like to wear.
Now, I suppose hair and accessories are quite obvious things to consider – you just need to ensure all the elements come together to make an attractive whole. In terms of location, you need to make sure your dress won’t look out of place.

Take an honest friend
Most brides take their mom or a friend shopping with them – especially when first beginning to look for a dress. who is very honest and clear about their opinions – now isn’t the time to bring a friend that’ll be lovely about everything you try on in a bid not to offend you.
Also, consider taking someone with a similar overall taste to you. This way, they can help you find the perfect dress that you love too, rather than convincing you to buy a frock that, while looks good, might not be something you personally like that much.
Stop looking when you have found your dream dress
It might sound weird to tell you to stop looking at other dresses as soon as you fall in love with one, but that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
When you try on a gown and feel like a fairytale princess, your search is over. Start slipping on other dresses after that and you’ll only confuse yourself – and that’s stress that any bride could do without.
