In your 20s and 30s, weddings seem to come and go. You'll go months or a year without any weddings. Next thing you know, you're invited to three in a row. What if this time, your wedding is one of those three invitations? How can you make your wedding special? Fortunately for you, there are many options.

The details are very important to you ...... Why shouldn't they be? The problem is knowing where to start. The ceremony and reception location should be at the top of your list. Once chosen, you simply build around it. Are you interested in a space that provides the ideal ambiance or a blank space? Both types of locations offer you the opportunity to add your personal touch. The modern bride is sure to think outside the box. Today's venues include unique options such as art galleries, libraries, zoos, and industrial buildings. Choosing a location is entirely up to your imagination ...... and manpower.

Weddings can usually take on a life of their own. There may be too many opinions (and options). You are trying to create a memorable event to showcase your personality and ideals. (But, your guests should have fun too!) Try to think outside the box and find a compromise. Also, get your significant others involved! There is no doubt that one person usually controls the reigns. That doesn't mean you shouldn't check in regularly and make your loved ones feel involved. Invite your partner to offer some ideas on

the ceremony

The "best of both worlds" is an option. Couples often exchange their I do in an intimate ceremony, followed by a lavish reception. Traditional ceremonies can certainly be personalized. Religious couples may want to include their favorite religious officials. What if a person is not so religious? For some vow exchanges, modern couples have an additional officiant. Once again, it's the best of both worlds! Not particularly devout? You may want to consider asking a friend or mentor to get permission for your special occasion.

Reception

You've both made your commitment. Now, it's time to celebrate! While it's your special day, why not offer your guests VIP treatment as well? It's easy to do with just a few simple gestures.

If your ceremony and reception are not in the same place, you may wish to offer transportation. Do you have a blocked room at the hotel? Guests often want transportation to the actual venue; this ensures that everyone gets "home" safely. Be sure to assign someone to capture the antics of the limo/party bus. There will be some laughs along the way! Overnight guests will also appreciate a thoughtful goodie bag with "essentials" including snacks, aspirin, and some information on local attractions. Leading local wedding resources suggest including gift certificates. Don't forget the handwritten note!

Thinking outside the box? You'll be amazed at what some couples offer their guests. Imagine having your attendees arrive by hayride ...... Or a hot air balloon arrival? Before booking something a little adventurous, accept the idea that some people may not be happy with your choices. If possible, give them some time to decide how they would like to arrive.

Personalize your event space with treasures. Pictures, precious mementos, and other keepsakes give guests a peek into your marriage. If possible, try including some family favorites and heirlooms. With these special markers, your guests will be truly welcomed by your wedding. People love to feel like they are a part of something. More importantly, people love ...... love.

When choosing a bridal party, it can be difficult to create a "cut-off". Everyone is so special to you. For those who are not attending the bridal party directly, why not include them by asking for their assistance as ushers? This is one of the easiest ways to get your loved ones involved in the task. Plus, your guests will enjoy not having to wander around looking for a table. Want to make it special? Provide your ushers with a helpful guide and some fun facts about your guests. This creates a relaxed, free-flowing conversation between two people who may not know each other.

It's likely that some of your wedding attendees already have children. You decide to have your children attend. However, this should be kept in mind when setting up the time and location. Some modern couples offer to hire help to help with childcare so that parents can dance all night. Whether children are nearby or at your wedding, consider providing some child-friendly activities, healthy snacks, and a napping area.

Surprise your guests with a parting snack at nightfall. What's your favorite snack after a night out? Something sweet? What's good to eat? Fried tortilla trucks, hot chocolate chip cookies, ice cream ...... The choices are truly endless. And you don't have to choose just one! You can choose to use the food truck to satisfy your guests' taste buds or send them home.

Just because the wedding is over, doesn't mean the memories have to stop. Creating a wedding album can take some time. You have many options when it comes to public photo sharing, so make the most of it. Do you have a wedding website? Later, you can use this to upload pictures, videos, and songs. A combination of professional and candid footage is a great way to showcase your wedding.
