Sleep Like A (Literal) Baby
I have a terrible case of idiopathic insomnia. My whole life, I've been plagued by a complete inability to fall asleep at night. When I was little, my parents called me "Popcorn" because I was always "popping" up out of bed at night. By the time I hit college, I was accustomed to running on just a few hours of sleep. Back then, my insomnia felt like a superpower, giving me extra time in the day and letting me stay up all night to party or work on homework.

Kratom had only just made its way into the United States a few years ago and the market is growing. Before we Americans contacted kratom, the plant has enjoyed a rich history though being mostly limited to its native origin. Kratom is otherwise known as Mitragyna speciosa. The kratom plant comes from Southeast Asia and is native to such countries as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and a couple of others.

Fitness. A word many women can run away from. One year ago, I reached my highest weight, was very unhappy with myself and wanted a change without making an effort. Like everyone else in lockdown, you work or study and then spend the rest of your free time on social media. I miss the social media platforms five to ten years ago when the notion of an ad or sponsored product was relatively new on these networking sites.

I have always enjoyed a hot cup of tea. I grew up drinking orange pekoe grade black tea with a splash of milk and a spoonful of sugar. I hated going to school for many reasons, but one of them was that I couldn’t make myself a cup of tea at school. Whenever I was sick, my mom made me a cup of tea to make me feel better. Whenever I see PG Tips tea bags, I am reminded of my mom. All four of my mom’s grandparents came to Canada from England, and we’ve kept the tea-drinking tradition alive here.

I normally bypass advertisements when I am looking through social media. I have seen this advertisement before, on Facebook, but like so many similar ones, I did not take any notice.

Every year, I make the same new year's resolution - I'm going to lose weight. The only thing that changes is the number of pounds.

Quarantine has had increasing challenges and demands placed on many, but especially parents. You don't need me to discuss how many times regulations, restrictions, and guidelines have changed over the past year plus. Although my husband and I did not have to take over education responsibilities because of my son's age, it still had its challenges and overwhelming demands. We were both considered essential employees. He was instructed to telework, and I was instructed to split my work between telework and physical reporting. My position had never been authorized to telework prior to Covid-19, so this was the first never tested experiment. My job was already stressful and demanding prior to Covid-19, but I was at least able to say my shift ended when it ended. I could wash my hands of my work responsibilities when I came home and put on my "mom hat." Initially, the teleworking transition wasn't too bad. Workplace items were getting sorted out with what was authorized and what wasn't, and for the first time, some of the traffic in my position slowed. I was able to watch my many of my son's first milestones and felt I could still be the parent I wanted to be. In a matter of months though, this changed drastically for the worse.

I am a proud member of a Costco family. When I was younger, going to Costco was the equivalent of going to an amusement park. I got to play with new toys, run up and down the isles, enjoy a $1.50 hot dog, and wait in line for an hour to check out. Costco, and specifically Kirkland, is a brand that my family has trusted for decades. During a recent trip with my father, we stumbled across a new toy in one of the isles; A Brookstone Mach IX 4D Vario Massage Chair.
