I am a proud member of a Costco family. When I was younger, going to Costco was the equivalent of going to an amusement park. I got to play with new toys, run up and down the isles, enjoy a $1.50 hot dog, and wait in line for an hour to check out. Costco, and specifically Kirkland, is a brand that my family has trusted for decades. During a recent trip with my father, we stumbled across a new toy in one of the isles; A Brookstone Mach IX 4D Vario Massage Chair.

We both took turns sitting in that chair and it was life changing. The chair features acupressure air massage, light therapy, and dual heating. Still, we did not buy the chair seeing as it was $10,000.

When we returned home, we spoke enthusiastically about our experience to my mother and brother. We all searched it on our phones, trying to find a better price, but it was simply not in the cards at the time. A funny thing happens when you search for a product enough times on your phone; it appears EVERYWHERE. I started seeing advertisements for it on Instagram, Facebook, in my email, even pop up advertisements on my work computer. Thank you google for selling my information.

This happened to all the members of my family as well, and after only took two weeks, we caved in. All of us had our own reasons for wanting the chair; My dad went through chemotherapy and the treatment left his bones weak, my mother and I are at a desk all day, and my brother, well I think he just likes cool things. We decided to pitch in together and split the cost of the chair. Anything backed by Costco is a brand we can get behind, so we took the risk. The chair actually was on sale by the time we decided to buy it and it only cost $5,000 ( $1,250 each).

Mid February, my brother hit that lovely ‘add to cart’ button with his brand new credit card. DECLINED.

So he try's again. Add to cart. DECLINED.

Again, add to cart. DECLINED.

Finally, he gave up and passed it on to me. After my card went through, we anxiously awaited the arrival of our chair. Now to give some background on my brother's card being declined, he recently graduated college, ( yay!) and just opened his very first credit card. Not many people purchase a $5,000 massage chair as their first purchase, so the card immediately was locked by the company, which prompted my brother to call the bank. He confirmed that it was in fact him who tried to buy the chair three times, and although they were confused, they took off the fraud alert on the purchases. No one told me this, so imagine my surprise when I got a call to confirm the scheduled shipment of my four massage chairs. It took a few days to straighten everything out but eventually our chair was delivered.

Delivery Day

It took three men to carry the car in and almost an hour to fully set up. Once we had it up and running, we played with the chair for three hours. My father is even looking into a generator for it, so that if the power goes out in a snowstorm, at least we will still be able to use the chair.

You can see the relaxation on her face

Costco currently has the chair is 30% off the original cost of $10,000, totaling $6,999.30 +shipping. I would recommend watching it for a while because it recently went on sale and probably will not again for a few months. Here is the link.

Although it was a strange, unnecessary, and expensive purchase, we have all fallen deeply in love with this chair.
