A brand new health centre which aims to provide the local community with state of the art primary health care services has opened in Little Hulton in Salford. The new practice which is part of a two storey development, encompasses GP services with a wide range of enhanced, primary care services all under one roof. It offers clinical services in a modern, fit for purpose premises. The premises officially opened on Monday 19th October and is already offering GP services as well as a wide range of primary healthcare services which people may need if they become unwell.

Salford Primary Care Together and NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group worked together with Greater Manchester Pension Fund to deliver this much-needed facility for the people of Little Hulton and are delighted that it is now open and delivering services to the community.

Liz Cross, Chair of SPCT said: “We are really proud to have partnered with colleagues to deliver this new building for the Little Hulton community and it’s incredibly exciting to have now reached the point when clinical services start. This facility has been a long time in the planning; local residents and patients have had the opportunity to contribute their ideas and thoughts throughout this time. We hope they have a real sense of pride in using this modern, high quality facility.”

The service has been created as part of a shared ownership, primary care model. The property was created by Castle Gate Projects which already runs and operates a wide range of established services in the area. This has helped spread the word about the different services they run and ensure their good reputation enhances the image people have of the services they offer.

David Gratrix, Director of Castle Gate Projects, commented: “Castle Gate is delighted to have delivered the Little Hulton project for our GP partners and the Greater Manchester Pension Fund. We are very proud to have played a part in delivering this new health facility for the Little Hulton community. The project had been delayed for a number of years but the ZCap® delivery model allowed the project to move forward quickly, minimising ownership risks but ensuring full control over the building.”

“’I’m particularly delighted to have worked alongside such a well-respected and innovative developer and to have reached the completion of the project. I’m proud the Greater Manchester Pension Fund is willing to invest in the construction of this development, whilst securing a good return for our members' pensions. It is particularly special to me as the Health and Social Care lead for Greater Manchester that we are investing in this project as the Little Hulton project will provide new medical facilities to serve the local community. We look forward to working on more opportunities like this to achieve our twin aims of significant investment returns to pay our pensions promises, whilst delivering much needed medical infrastructure for Greater Manchester.”

That's according to Cllr Brenda Warrington, Chair of the Greater Manchester Pension Fund which funded the project.

Salford Primary Care Trust offers a regular, daily service which helps cater for the needs of the whole local community. This new development will only help to enhance the quality services that patients already receive. The service offers accessible parking and can fully meet the needs of patients who may be disabled or have extra needs to ensure they can attend appointments and get the right care and treatment that they need.

Four GP practices have been integrated in to the one service and help to serve a local population of around 13, 000 people.

Dr Tom Tasker, chair of NHS Salford CCG, said: “This new health centre will give people living in Little Hulton access to high quality, integrated services in modern and purpose-built surroundings.

“Throughout the development of these plans, the CCG and GP practices have been speaking to the local community about what they want from health and well-being services in the area and we’ve listened to those views. This new health centre is going to bring significant benefits to Little Hulton as their GP practice will be working from much more modern building, as well as bringing more hospital services into the community and closer to people at home.”

Lance Gardner, Chief Executive of SPCT, said: “Our Little Hulton GP practice was recently rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. By being located in this new centre, we are pleased our staff can offer the people they care for an environment to match the same high standard of care and treatment they provide.

“We are pleased to be sharing the new facility with the other practices and I am sure we will all watch with great pride as the new centre gradually takes shape before it opens its doors to people next year.”

Now that this new community, health care centre has opened, hopefully more people will be able to get the right treatment and care they need to live their every day lives. This includes having the Covid 19 vaccine to ensure they remain safe during the current pandemic.
