Now more than ever, we’re looking for long-term strategies to reduce our homes environmental impact. We donate old items, invest in better efficiency home appliances, and use our vehicles less. These past few months of pandemic have even been somewhat of an advantage - there's less that is open and available, so we stay home. Of course, we're all hoping we get back to some sort of normal eventually. What if there was a way to make your kitchen more sustainable once we get there?

Creating a sustainable grocery budget
When we first purchased our townhouse in Southern California with its 200 square foot backyard I had visions of starting my own victory garden full of vegetables, herbs, and fruit trees. I thought that we could preserve the surplus and enjoy nature’s bounty for much less than what we were paying at the grocery store. How wrong I was! The Art of Canning
As a young adult in my mid twenties cooking is a hobby I have started to take up. When COVID came through and started to take the world by storm restaurants began to close and in some states, like mine only remain open for outdoor dining and take out. This got me thinking, if I can't be the foodie I am at my local restaurants, then I need to be the foodie that I am in my own home! During this time, I have been buying lots of fruits and veggies and sustainable meats from my local farmers markets and CSA, while I typically cook the meats right away, sometimes I buy too much fruits and veggies for only a family of me, myself and I, but I can not let them go to waste.
