It’s All Fun and Games Until You Are Broke

Saving helps.

Spending money is definitely a common thing that a lot of people have a hard time with, especially when it comes to the little things that could be worked on.

Such as... fast food! We tend to be out with friends, or a drive to work and/or after work, we pass by, and sometimes we can’t resist when we are hungry, even though when we go home, we have free food! Don’t get me wrong, I am the same way! Things that can help with not spending money on food is eating a big breakfast to hold you over, or pack a lunch/ snacks for when you go on break if you have work that day, enough to hold you over after when you get off. Once you get off of work, make a habit to head home after and make a dinner there, then plan to go out with friends.

Another thing that people may spend their money on a lot is clothes! It’s totally okay to buy yourself new clothes, wanting to change up your wardrobe a bit, tired of wearing the same things every now and then. There should be a limit. If you find yourself shopping for clothes three times a day, well honey, you have got to stop if you want that money saved. If you have a party to go to and you want an outfit for that night, but you only know that you will wear it one time, either ask around to your friends and see other choices, or when you do buy the outfit, make sure you don’t mess it up and make a return. (Don’t forget to return). You will get your money back! People may think clothing stores that are not at the mall and fancy are stupid to shop at, but if you want cheap don’t be afraid to shop at the smaller stores, such as Plato’s closet. You can also sell clothing materials there for money back! Or thrift stores. They may have a yuck reaction, but will have heart eyes on your bank account!

If you have a savings account, DON'T TAKE OUT. A savings account is there for a reason. If you have a job, with each paycheck, put half of that amount in your savings. And of course, use the rest of your checking for other things, such as food, gas, bills, etc.

Going to bills, this is where most people do not see the big picture. We want to go to all these places to have fun with friends, or food places, driving around just to jam, wasting gas having to fill up again. No one realizes there are bigger things to pay for. You have to be wise with your money. One day, you may have a flat tire. You will have to have the money for a new one and even a tow truck! Money for electricity bills, water bills, a new car, etc, but with our no- self-control of buying unnecessary things that we need to control, we miss the bigger more important things in life.
