Base on research, we find that a lot of the creative thinking skills listed above are useful in finding better ways to collaborate, solve problems in our work environment, or create new ideas. Whether championing innovation, creating change in policy, or finding better ways to collaborate, individuals who are effective problem solvers and use their creative thinking skills are in better positions for success at work. In fact, this ability to design, test, and execute original solutions makes creative thinkers valuable assets to almost every workplace.

Creative thinkers are capable of looking at things in new, non-traditional ways, and coming up with solutions that nobody else has thought of before. Creative thinking is a way to come up with new, or unorthodox, solutions, ones that are not entirely dependent on the solutions from the past or present. It is a way of adopting strategies for clearing ones mind, so your thoughts and ideas can rise above the perceived limitations of the problem.

Creative thinking is about using skills and soft skills to think of novel solutions to problems. Creative thinking is the ability to see things in different ways, to come up with new ways of solving problems. When you are creatively thinking, you are able to come up with new solutions, or new ways to solve problems, that others have not thought of.

To think creatively, put aside any assumptions or biases that you might have, and see things a whole new way. Approaching the issue with an open mind gives you a chance to think creatively. When you are open-minded, you are going against the grain, looking for new solutions and ways to get things done, rather than sticking with good old ways that may not work out after all.

Being able to train your mind to think creatively helps you invent, solve problems, create, and communicate in new, fresh ways. Learning to apply creative thinking in your work duties helps you to come up with novel, effective solutions for the usual problems that you may face in your role.

Whether you have found creative thinking does not come naturally, your skills need a bit of work, or you simply want to experiment with new ways to work, it can be hard to know where to start. Focusing on creativity and innovation is important, as most problems may call for approaches that have not been created or tried before. Even if you would not normally think of yourself as creative, you can still build specific skills that will enable you to approach goals and obstacles with an innovative mind-set.

Regardless of whether or not you think of yourself as a creative person, there are useful skills and techniques that you can learn that allow you to access this right-brain creative mindset and take a fresh approach to innovation, problem solving, and managing change. Looking at things or problems from different perspectives will enable you to uncover new angles that you did not see previously, because you were so focused on what you wanted to see, or what you were used to seeing. Embrace New Possibilities and Try New Things One specific study tested creativity in those who had lived abroad and those who had not lived outside of their home countries. One specific research study found that people who had lived abroad were more likely to be able to think creatively when solving problems.
