Good leaders possess self-awareness, gain confidence, focus on relationship-building, demonstrate an inclination to take action, demonstrate humility, enable others, remain authentic, show up consistently and consistently, be a role model, and are completely present. True leaders also use their self-awareness and insights to continually challenge themselves to grow.

They will always be open to helping their team members figure out ways to develop new skills or improve on an area of weakness, be able to identify and execute strategies that will help the entire organization grow, and, perhaps most important, they are able to look within themselves to determine areas that they want to work on -- then take action. A good leader puts education front and center, either through formal training such as building skills via a degree in management, or by paying daily attention to the rest of their departments and roles. Good leaders give employees credit for the work they have done, taking the time to coach them when performance slips.

Managers can answer to higher-ups, but good leaders know that their true job is to make sure that their employees have the resources they need to perform as effectively and efficiently as possible--and that they receive the direct support that they need to thrive in their workplace. Rather than sticking with the status quo, a good leader is constantly looking for ways to optimize processes, provide their teams with new opportunities, and improve the impact on the bottom line.

Great leaders communicate with their teams, encouraging open communication, encouraging employees growth and development, and giving and receiving feedback. Connecting is a powerful way of balancing the demands of the role of a leader, and people feel better about their teams when they see that a leader is not just working hard, but is also present and approachable.

A good leader is someone who is able to inspire and motivate others to achieve a common goal. A leader must be able to communicate effectively and be able to make decisions in a timely manner. A leader must also be able to build relationships and trust with those they are leading.

Good leaders have the emotional intelligence to understand and accept that change is inevitable. Instead of trying to maintain a status quo just for the sake of consistency, embrace change and innovation. Be open to new ideas and alternative ways of thinking. Everyone brings a unique perspective to the table, and that is something to take advantage of, not discourage.

When it comes to finding a good leader, there are many qualities that are essential for success. A leader must be able to inspire and motivate others to achieve a common goal. They must also be able to communicate effectively and make decisions in a timely manner. Additionally, a leader must be able to build relationships and trust with those they are leading. If a leader possesses all of these qualities, they are likely to be successful in achieving their goals.

To make this acceptance, have every direct report take a disc quiz, which helps you get a better sense of the personalities on your team, how they react to challenges, and how they like to communicate.

Remember that being a good leader takes time. Although some individuals are naturally inclined to have good leadership skills, it is something anyone can learn and improve upon. With hard work, dedication and strategic planning, you can lead your team to success.
