Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as the saying goes. In layman's terms, it means that some people will find you cute while others... will have their own opinions. There isn't much you can about that. But we do have a list of hair and makeup lifehacks that will make your life easier—and your beauty hard to deny.

Transfer your favorite mousse into a spray bottle.

Yes, we mean it. While we all love a good volumizing mousse, the application method leaves much to be desired. Applying mousse straight from the can to your hair or hand can lead to over-application. It also has a tendency to create a sticky mess. Save yourself the hassle and get a spray bottle. It will save you product and clean up time!

Create a tight low bun with two ponytails.

Oh, the low bun. Nothing says classy or sophisticated like a simple chignon. But getting all the hair in place can be rather that challenge. A simple solution would be to put the hair into two low ponytails. Twist one first around to make a small bun. Then twist the other ponytail around the first and secure it with a few bobby-pins. And there you have it! A perfectly tight low bun.

Flat iron your waves.

Who doesn't love rocking a head full of beachy waves? They are effortlessly cool and always make you look as though you just returned from a vacay in Mallorca. The trouble is, they never seem to last very long.

Never fear! We're here to give you a hair and makeup lifehack that rocking waves so deep that it'll make you seasick. First up, braid your hair. You will want it to be slightly damp with a bit of hairspray or mousse. Then, take a flat iron and gently pull it down the length of the braid. And that's it! Undo the braids and you'll be left with gorgeous deep waves that will last until you wash them out! There are also some great sea salt sprays to enhance those beachy waves.

Spray your face with rose water.

If you need your makeup to last all day, chances are you will be using several products with mattifying properties. For those of us with dry skin, it is imperative that we moisturize our situation. Nothing is worse than having peeling skin underneath your foundation.

So, to avoid this, after your moisturizer, spray a bit of rose water on your face. Wait a few minutes and then apply your foundation and translucent setting powder.

You'll be left with smooth supple moisturized face and a foundation with a skin-like finish.

Twist and snip your spilt ends.

Now, let's address that hair. We are not judging, but we know that you've been busy and haven't had the time to head to the salon for a good trim. We've all had points in which our ends were more than a little out of control. So, what can you do about it? Well, here's a hair and makeup lifehack to help you give yourself a lovely trim.

It is quite simple. Just take a small lock of hair and give it a twist. Take a look at all the split ends sticking out and simply snip them off. It is a fail-safe way to keep your strands smooth in-between salon visits.

Make your own glitter liner.

Glitter Eyeliner is a staple among drag queens and girls at music festivals. It is a great look, but a pain to use. Even the most expensive liners dry up easily and are difficult to apply.

Do yourself a favor and make your own with eyelash glue and loose glitter. We know, it is genius in both its simplicity and application. That is what makes it one of our favorite hair and makeup lifehacks.

To apply, start by adding a bit of pencil liner in brown, grey or black to the lash line to ground the look. Be sure you know the tips and tricks to get the perfect eyeliner! Then go over that line with glue and apply the glitter before it dries. And Bam! You are Coachella ready!

Use cornstarch as dry shampoo.

Here's another money saving tip that you may not have considered before. Cornstarch as a dry shampoo. We know, we know. It seems super gross, right? I mean why would you put the stuff your grandma uses to thicken gravy in...your hair?

Well, the reality is that if you already use a dry shampoo, you are doing that already. Most dry shampoos use starches like corn or rice as one of their main ingredients. So why not cut out the middleman?

Next time you are feeling a little oily, just pop on a little cornstarch at your roots. You'll feel much better and no one will be the wiser.

Blend synthetic hair extensions with dry shampoo.

Synthetic hair can look a little too shiny when compared to your natural hair. That look ain't cute. Fortunately, dry shampoo is here to save the day again! Simply apply some dry shampoo to your extensions to make them look more like natural hair. They'll blend much more nicely and nobody will even know! Plus if you use the best dry shampoos to make your hair smell great, you'll look and smell nice!

And waste no more product while you're at it. You can achieve that dramatic look and smooth application with your pencil liner. But here is the tip—literally. Light the tip of your pencil with a lighter for a second or two. Allow it to cool for 15 seconds, then apply the liner to your lid.

You'll have the smoothness and enhanced pigmentation that you desire without having to buy a new product. Who doesn't love a two for one special?

Tuck and Cover

By now after all these hacks, you should know how to keep yourself beautified with minimal effort. Now, its time to learn the ultimate effortlessly chic/lazy girl hairstyle. Are you ready? It is called the tuck and cover. How do you do it?

Well, you take a headband and place it around your head. The piece at the back of your head should be an inch or two below your ears. Take a piece of hair, twist it and tuck it into the headband. Then take the ends of that piece, with the next section of hair and repeat the process. When you are done, all of the hair will be neatly and beautifully tucked into your headband, giving the look of an elegant chignon.

It works on all hair types and would be appropriate for any occasion, from a wedding to a baseball game.

So, there you have it! Ten hair and makeup lifehacks that every girl should know. We hope that you have learned a few tricks. And if you have, treat this article like a secret about your best frenemy—pass it on!
