Kartik Aaryan has surprised his fans with the release of his new film Freddy on Disney Plus Hotstar. Alaya F played the female lead. Watch the movie on OTT.

Story

Freddy (Kartik Aaryan), a 28-year-old introvert and recluse dental surgeon who spends five years on Meri Shaadi.com searching for a soulmate, keeps you captivated. After being humiliated by some prank calls and failing to find a partner for five years, Freddy falls in love with Kainaaz, a married woman stuck in an abusive relationship.

When she visits his dental clinic to have an extraction, they meet. They fall in love after a series of events. This is a love story that goes beyond happy moments, secret meetings, and characters' affection.

Freddy is short and veers from its course. The Freddy film keeps pace despite the story being predictable in the second half.

Kartik's character in Freddy was the most experimental and challenging role he had ever played. In Dhamaka last year, he was forced to leave his comedy comfort zone. With Freddy, however, he went further. Unlike Dhamaka, there is no monologue, screaming, or yelling.

Kartik's transformation to Freddy deserves praise. Kartik's transformation to Freddy is something special. He gained 14 kg, learned the skills and mannerisms of an introvert, and could express love, joy, and sadness. It was impressive to see how he communicated more with his expressions, gestures, and eyes than words.

Hardy is his best friend, and they have some exciting scenes together. At one point, I wondered if Freddy would have survived without his turtle friend. Yes, absolutely. Persis Aunty also acts as a confidante, keeping an eye on him to protect him from dark memories.

Alaya F gives a powerful performance. She is an excellent actress who has mastered the subtleties. You shouldn't expect much chemistry in Kartik and Alaya's scenes together.

Parveez's story is a good thriller. However, his dialogue could have been more creative. The dialogue could have been more applause-worthy. House decor, props, and the language of characters and names are all used to bring out an authentic Parsi flavor.

The big reveal and climax are the film's highlights. Freddy has a spine-chilling storyline and a plot that unfolds as the characters do. Disney+ Hotstar is the place to watch this film.

Plus Points

Karthik has played both comic roles and lover-boys. Freddy shows the other side. He did a great job as an introverted and under confident person. Freddy's facial expressions and body language are ideal for the part.

Karthik has a strong screen presence that is evident from the beginning. His growth as an actor is evident in one of his most moving scenes, where he bursts into tears. Karthik revealed his biggest revelation to date with Freddy.

Alaya F does a great job as a victim of domestic violence. She adds depth and is a captivating actress. Alaya showed a wide range of emotions in crucial scenes and received full marks for the performance. Karthik has a good chemistry with Aaryan.

The second hour is filled with exciting moments and a fast-paced plot. The film's second half is filled with an exciting cat-and-mouse between the two main characters. The climax of the film is handled well with humor.

Minus Points

Surprisingly, the filmmakers stuck to a template at a moment when so many try to be original, especially given the freedom of the OTT market. The film is not unique to us. The director tried to hide the mistakes by hiring talented artists. He failed.

The plot of the film is similar to an old Hindi film. The film is predictable at times. It's now clear why the filmmakers decided not to release the movie trailer.

The investigation is a joke, as the police believed Freddy's words without verifying the facts. It is important to use logic in thrillers, but it must be done. The first hour of the Freddy movie has some very long scenes.

Freddy Movie Reviews: Star Performance

Freddy Movie Review: Kartik Aaryan is often criticized for his monotonous performances. Still, on a larger scale, you can see that he's been working in films like Akash Vaani, Dhamaka, and Freddy to counteract this perception. Kartik Aaryan has become a seasoned actor who can portray his emotions of Freddy due to his mental trauma.

Alaya is a mixed bag. Alaya's character builds up a lot of curiosity in the first half, but the writing could be more robust. Despite the flaws, she maintains her poise and quirkiness until the very last scene. Sajjad Delafrooz, the actor who played Tiger Zinda Hai in the second part of the film, is responsible for the unintentional humor.
