Hygge - never heard of this word? Cool. But don’t mention that you have never experienced the hygge-ness when you have, maybe unknowingly. Did you ever enjoy a winter evening reading a good book or sipping your freshly brewed mug of coffee, sitting in your living room, lying down by a fire while wrapping yourself up in a cosy blanket? You definitely did, right? And this is how you have already been practising hygge living unconsciously.

The word ‘hygge’ is a part of Danish culture. But, more than a word, hygge is a concept that embodies the feeling of comfort and togetherness.

Some perks of practising a hygge lifestyle include emotional, social and physical benefits, as it affects our five senses (sight, sound, taste, smell and touch). The cosiness of a hygge space lets us experience a meaningful connection with family and friends. The area offers a casual and comfortable environment that allows our bodies and mind to feel more relaxed.

Suppose you consider having friends over at your place for a stayover; maintaining hygge focused lifestyle will help you bring out much talk instead of watching TV late at night or checking on social media staff. You can even turn it into a game night, a productive book reading session, or just pass the time throwing multiple juicy pieces of gossip.

Bring the outdoors in to set a feel of natural touch in your hygge home so that it can help you feel extra relaxed and calm. Having large windows allows sun lights to enter your place. Also, try to add soft-coloured and lightened curtains to accede to more natural sunlight.

Include wood furniture to bring a country appeal to your interior, showcasing natural finishes. Also, you can place a bouquet of fresh flowers in the morning and complete your home décor, including indoor plants in any and every room of your home.

Good lighting

Lighting is another vital décor element that will help you achieve a hygge atmosphere, also that one secret of Danes that keeps them cheerful all the time, even during gloomy winter days. Skipping the way to white LED lights, you can use a floor lamp, table lamp, or even hanging pendant lights with warm and soft hues.

Or, to bring a festive vibe, fairy lights are always an ideal option, and to create an atmosphere for cosy conversation, keep dimmers as part of your hygge home.
