I don't know about you, but most of my favorite memories during summer as a kid involved something with the backyard. Whether that was cook-outs eating hot dogs and chips, or water gun fights, a backyard can be a magical place for family and friends. So this summer, break out your tool belt and get ready to tackle these 9 awesome and easy backyard DIY projects!

1. DIY Fire Pit

A common feature of a fun and beautiful backyard is a fire pit! Especially during the summer time, they provide the perfect place to roast s'mores, read, or enjoy a nice relaxing drink with friends! This above DIY video (which is also adorable BTW), shows how you can easily build a simple fire pit for your family to enjoy, and on a budget!

Another thing we love about a DIY fire pit as a project is that you can really customize it to get exactly the look you want! Do you want to use a specific stone, or want a specific shape? The sky is really the limit here!

2. Turn Old Vintage Tins & Cans into Fun Planters!

Now this is one we are really excited about, because it's a great way to reduce waste, reuse containers, and add pops of color to your porch or yard!

Old tins can make for great herb or flower planters, and if you can get vintage ones from brands that you love, it adds a special and unique touch to your yard!

You can click here to find some vintage coffee tins on Etsy to use!

Another reason we love this DIY project is that it's a fun way to introduce more plants to your yard! This is a great way to start growing some fresh herbs, like rosemary or mint. or gorgeous flowers!

3. Set up a CUTE Lemonade Stand!

There are so many different twists and styles of lemonade stand you can make, so get out there and start crafting!

Even if you don't want to, or can't, set up a neighborhood lemonade stand for your kids, this can be a great thing for the older siblings and parents to buy from!

This is one of our favorite backyard DIY projects! If you happen to have an old stock tank laying around, or know someone who does, you can repurpose it into a fun and rustic swimming pool! Great way to cool off for the summer and be resourceful!

Can't find a stock tank? Look for any large containers that you can use the same technique on!
